The SKF NJ207 ECJ/C3 cylindrical roller bearing (35x72x17 mm) can accommodate high radial loads and serves as a support bearing with single-sided axial guidance.
This single-row NJ207 ECJ/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is suitable for industrial bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces. The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This design enables the bearing to support axial forces from one direction. SKF manufactures this open roller bearing with an optimised internal design and a sheet steel cage for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
It is used in bearing arrangements where, in addition to high radial forces, unidirectional guiding forces in the longitudinal direction are also present. Due to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the component can withstand high radial loads. As the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding structure. The open design without an integrated seal allows for direct circulation of grease or lubricating oil.
The NJ design allows for axial displacement in one direction, whilst the inner ring remains removable from one side for assembly work. This facilitates the separate installation of both rings onto the shaft and housing. The increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for thermal expansion at higher operating temperatures. In terms of dimensional accuracy, the component complies with the standard tolerance P0/ABEC 1, whilst the running accuracy conforms to tolerance class P6/ABEC 3.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to act as a support bearing that guides shafts in the axial direction. In the opposite direction, the design allows for axial displacement, which accommodates thermal expansion during operation.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 35 mm, an external diameter of 72 mm and a width of 17 mm. These standardised mounting dimensions allow for direct installation in standard-compliant housing and shaft seats of the same nominal size.
The designation ‘EC’ indicates an optimised internal design. The letter ‘J’ stands for a sheet-steel cage. The abbreviation ‘C3’ indicates an increased radial bearing clearance, which exceeds the standard range.
An increased bearing clearance class, such as C3, prevents the bearing from becoming stressed when it heats up during operation or in the case of tight fits. If the shaft and housing undergo dimensional changes due to temperature differences, the additional radial clearance ensures that the bearing continues to run smoothly.
The bearing is designed for ambient temperatures between -30 and +150 degrees Celsius. As it is an open design without integrated sealing washers, its use requires external sealing of the bearing housing as well as appropriate lubrication with oil or grease.
As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. This simplifies mechanical assembly and reduces the risk of damage to the raceways and rolling elements during the fitting process.
