The FAG NUP218 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row fixed bearing that combines high radial load-carrying capacity with double-sided axial shaft guidance in the 90x160x30 mm size.
The NUP218 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. The bearing is manufactured by FAG Wälzlager and has a bore of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 30 mm. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, this design can withstand very high radial forces. Designed as an open bearing, it can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication circuits using oil or grease.
Design engineers primarily use this cylindrical roller bearing in mechanical drive trains and bearing arrangements subject to combined loads. The NUP design functions as a fixed bearing: it guides the shaft axially in both directions whilst simultaneously supporting heavy radial loads. Thanks to the brass cage, the roller bearing withstands high accelerations, shock loads and vibrations. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +150 degrees, thus covering a wide range of thermal operating conditions in mechanical engineering.
The NUP design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, as well as one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. This enables the bearing assembly to accommodate axial forces of varying directions without the need for a separate thrust bearing. The integrated brass cage guides the rollers evenly and offers favourable emergency running characteristics in the event of insufficient lubrication. The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and has standard radial clearance for regular fit conditions on the shaft and housing.
A single-row radial roller bearing of the NUP type, manufactured by FAG Wälzlager. Its main dimensions are a bore diameter of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 30 mm. The bearing is fitted with a brass cage and has standard radial clearance in tolerance class P0/PN.
The NUP design serves as a fixed bearing for the axial fixation of a shaft in both directions. The outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has one fixed flange and one loose flange disc. In addition to heavy radial forces, the bearing thus specifically transmits axial support forces.
The operating range is between -30 and +150 degrees Celsius. The thermal operating limit is determined by the dimensional stability of the bearing components, the brass cage and the selected lubricant. For applications close to the limit values, a temperature-stable grease or lubricating oil is required.
Brass cages offer high strength under dynamic loads, severe vibrations and high speeds. The material reduces friction losses and has better sliding properties than steel rollers. This makes this bearing particularly suitable for demanding applications involving varying loads.
As this is an open bearing design without integrated sealing washers, the lubricant must be supplied via the housing. Depending on the speed and ambient temperature, either grease or oil lubrication is used. As the outer ring has no lubrication groove, relubrication takes place axially via the bearing seat.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the internal operating clearance between the rollers and raceways in their initial state. It is designed to match standard fits for the shaft and housing bore. Under normal operating temperatures, this ensures that sufficient clearance is maintained to prevent the rolling elements from seizing up.
