The FAG NU1032 -M1A-C3 single-row cylindrical roller bearing, with a 160 mm bore, solid brass cage and C3 clearance, offers high radial load-carrying capacity when used as a non-locating bearing.
The FAG NU1032 -M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is designed as a single-row radial roller bearing for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and raceways, this design absorbs heavy radial forces whilst maintaining high rigidity. With key dimensions of a 160 mm bore, 240 mm outer diameter and 38 mm width, this design is suitable for compact installation spaces. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
This radial roller bearing is primarily used in bearing arrangements where purely radial loads must be supported and axial length changes of the shaft must be compensated for. In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides. As a result, the unit serves as a true idler bearing in general mechanical engineering and in heavy-duty industrial gearboxes.
The two suffixes denote specific design features of this bearing type. The externally guided solid brass cage, designated M1A, offers high strength and guides the rollers stably within the raceway, even under vibration or shock loads. The increased radial clearance (C3) prevents the rolling elements from seizing up due to thermal expansion or tight fits. The open bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
In the NU design, the outer ring guides the rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to move freely axially relative to the set of rollers. This enables the thermal linear expansion of the shaft to be compensated for without constraint directly within the bearing, without generating axial stresses in the bearing assembly.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 160 mm, an outside diameter of 240 mm and a width of 38 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for space-saving integration whilst maintaining a high radial load capacity. The outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove or lubrication holes.
The designation M1A refers to a solid brass cage that is guided on the outer ring. Brass cages guided on the outer ring offer exceptional mechanical stability against centrifugal forces and vibrations. They are the preferred choice in demanding environmental conditions or where loads vary.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with standard clearance. This design is recommended where a reduction in bearing clearance is to be expected due to temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. Even with tight fits on the shaft or housing, the C3 clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed.
As an open cylindrical roller bearing, this design has no integrated seals. Suitable lubrication with lubricating oil or grease via the housing is required for operation. Protection against contamination is provided by external seals in the surrounding housing structure, suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees.
