The FAG NU221 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, with a 105 mm bore, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and is used as a separable idler bearing in mechanical engineering.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing NU221 -E-XL-TVP2 from FAG is designed for demanding industrial applications involving purely radial forces. Due to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the bearing can withstand higher loads than a ball bearing of comparable dimensions. With key dimensions of 105 mm bore diameter, 190 mm outer diameter and 36 mm width, this open roller bearing is used in numerous heavy-duty shaft mountings. The polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration and low noise at operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
Design engineers primarily use this cylindrical roller bearing where high radial forces are present and thermally induced changes in shaft length need to be compensated for. Typical applications include gearbox shafts, electric motors, pumps and heavy-duty industrial drives. As the NU design functions purely as a non-locating bearing, the inner ring allows axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing without resistance. This prevents harmful axial stresses in the overall bearing arrangement and increases the operational reliability of the entire system.
The NU design is characterised by two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, which facilitates the separate mounting of both bearing rings onto the shaft and housing. The TVP2 polyamide cage is characterised by its low mass and good emergency running properties. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance and the standard tolerance P0/ABEC 1, this open roller bearing is suitable for lubrication systems using oil or grease in a protected installation environment.
This single-row radial roller bearing of the NU type is fitted with a lightweight polyamide cage. With solid flanges on the outer ring and a smooth inner ring, it functions purely as a non-locating bearing. It accommodates high radial loads and allows for unrestricted longitudinal movement of the shaft within the housing.
The roller bearing is designed with an inner diameter of 105 mm, an outer diameter of 190 mm and a width of 36 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when installed in standardised housings and on corresponding shaft seats in industrial mechanical engineering.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be moved in either direction or withdrawn completely. This simplifies installation and prevents the transmission of unwanted axial forces.
The suffix combination TVP2 denotes a solid polyamide cage with roller guidance. This cage material absorbs shocks, runs quietly and reduces the moving mass within the rolling bearing. It is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
Manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance, this design offers standard operating clearance for conventional fit conditions. The dimensional and running tolerances comply with tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance or ABEC 1) for dimensionally stable mounting in general precision engineering.
As this is an open roller bearing without integrated sealing washers, lubrication is provided by the surrounding structure. The bearing can be operated using either grease or oil. An external seal on the housing protects the raceways from the ingress of contaminants.
