The FAG NU216 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 80 × 140 × 26 mm, provides a robust floating bearing arrangement for high radial loads in mechanical engineering.
The NU216 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed primarily for radial loads. As an open design without an integrated seal, this unit can be flexibly integrated into existing oil or grease lubrication systems. The manufacturer, FAG, fits this variant with a lightweight polyamide cage. Thanks to the precise line contact between the raceway and the rollers, this roller bearing transmits high forces whilst ensuring smooth running in industrial drives.
This bearing is primarily used in bearing arrangements where thermal linear expansion of the shaft occurs. Due to its NU design, the bearing supports radial forces exclusively and compensates for axial displacement without constraint within the bearing. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in heavy-duty industrial drives that require a robust bearing arrangement with an 80 mm shaft diameter and a 140 mm housing bore.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the flangeless inner ring can be removed from both sides. This separability facilitates assembly and maintenance, as the inner and outer rings can be mounted separately onto the shaft and housing. The polyamide cage (TVP2) is characterised by its elastic damping properties and low weight. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance, the design covers an operating range from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As a floating bearing, the outer ring guides the rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from either side. This allows the rolling bearing to compensate for axial displacement of the shaft directly within the bearing itself, without generating additional stresses in the bearing housing.
With a bore of 80 mm, an external diameter of 140 mm and a width of 26 mm, the bearing complies with standard key dimensions. These dimensions allow for direct installation in standardised bearing housings used in mechanical and plant engineering.
The polyamide material gives the cage high elasticity whilst keeping its own weight low. This reduces the inertial forces in the rolling element guide during operation and dampens vibrations. The cage is designed for use within the bearing’s permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This version is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (PN or ABEC 1). This level of precision meets the requirements of general mechanical engineering with regard to dimensional and concentricity tolerances and enables a precise fit when mounted on standard shafts.
As the bearing is manufactured without its own sealing washers, lubrication must be provided via the housing or an external lubrication system. You can use suitable greases or lubricating oils depending on the operating conditions and speed requirements. External housing seals protect the rolling element system from contamination.
