The SKF NU2314 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, a single-row idler bearing measuring 70x150x51 mm, can accommodate high radial loads.
The SKF NU2314 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is an open, single-row roller bearing with a cylindrical bore designed for high radial loads. With an inside diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 51 mm, this Explorer design features an optimised internal structure for even load distribution. It is primarily used where high radial forces occur and axial length changes in the shaft must be compensated for without restriction.
This bearing serves as a pure idler bearing in applications with high radial loads and no axial guiding forces. As the inner ring has no flanges, it can be displaced axially on both sides relative to the roller set. This serves to prevent stress concentrations resulting from thermal shaft expansion during operation. As the NU2314 ECP cylindrical roller bearing has an open design and the outer ring has no lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the housing design.
The NU design is characterised by two solid flanges on the outer ring and a smooth, flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner and outer rings to be fitted separately, which facilitates installation and subsequent maintenance work. The integrated polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers and is characterised by its low weight. With standard radial clearance and a permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees, the component meets defined standard operating conditions.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 51 mm. It is a single-row bearing with a cylindrical bore. The outer ring has no ring groove or lubrication bore, so you should provide lubrication via the bearing housing.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides and moved axially relative to the outer ring. This design traditionally functions as a floating bearing to compensate for axial thermal expansion of the shaft.
The polyamide material gives the cage elastic properties and reduces the mass of the moving components. This ensures smooth running of the rolling elements and reduces friction within the bearing. The permissible temperature range for this type of cage is -30 to +120 degrees Celsius, which covers use in many standard applications.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 in terms of dimensional accuracy. The running accuracy corresponds to the higher class P6 or ABEC 3. This combination ensures precise concentricity of the shaft, whilst the connection dimensions for the shaft and housing comply with the relevant standards.
As the bearing is supplied without integrated sealing washers, lubrication via the surrounding structure is required. You may use either grease or lubricating oil. Ensure that the housing is properly sealed so that neither contaminants can enter the roller system nor lubricant can leak out.
The Explorer version from SKF features an optimised internal design. The raceways and roller surfaces are geometrically matched in such a way as to reduce edge loading. This promotes even load distribution across the entire roller line under high radial operating forces.
