At a glance: The N310 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager, measuring 50x110x27 mm and featuring a brass cage, offers high radial load-carrying capacity when used as a non-locating bearing.
The N310 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager with a cylindrical bore of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width of 27 mm. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, this bearing can withstand considerable radial forces. Designed as an open bearing, it can be flexibly integrated into oil- or grease-lubricated assemblies. The version with a brass cage ensures stable guidance of the rolling elements even under demanding operating conditions.
This bearing is primarily used as a floating bearing to accommodate purely radial forces in bearing arrangements with axial length compensation. As the outer ring is designed to be removable on both sides, the N design compensates for axial length changes in the shaft without constraint directly within the bearing. Thermal expansion therefore does not lead to undesirable stresses in the overall system. In combination with a fixed bearing on the opposite side, this results in a functionally suitable bearing arrangement for thermally stressed shafts.
The solid brass cage is characterised by its strength and good run-out properties, enabling it to withstand vibrations and acceleration forces. As the bearing has no integrated seals, the housing must be sealed externally against dirt and moisture. The component has a standard radial bearing clearance and a tolerance class of P0/ABEC 1. When designing the application, please note the permissible operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a total width of 27 mm. The dimensions and running tolerances comply with the ‘Normal’ tolerance class (P0 or ABEC 1). This makes the component suitable for standardised housing and shaft seats in mechanical engineering.
In the N design, the inner ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the outer ring is manufactured without flanges. The outer ring can be removed from both ends, which facilitates assembly. This bearing cannot accommodate axial forces; it serves exclusively as a non-locating bearing and compensates for axial shaft displacement within the bearing with low friction.
The brass cage keeps the cylindrical rollers at a uniform distance apart and guides them precisely through the load zone. Solid brass provides mechanical stability against vibrations, impact loads and rapid changes in speed. Furthermore, the material promotes low-friction operation under demanding lubrication conditions.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. This temperature range is covered by the dimensional stability of the rings and the brass cage. When selecting the lubricant – whether grease or oil – care should be taken to ensure that its thermal operating limits fully cover this range.
Open roller bearings do not come with integrated sealing washers or cover plates fitted by the manufacturer. This design allows the lubricant to be selected freely and the bearing to be connected to existing oil circuits or external lubrication systems. Protection against foreign particles and moisture is provided by contact or non-contact seals within the surrounding housing structure.
This rolling bearing is manufactured with a standard radial clearance (CN). The standard clearance is designed for standard fit combinations and typical operating temperatures. Once pressed onto the shaft and fitted into the housing, the required radial operating clearance remains to ensure smooth running and uniform rolling contact under load.
