The SKF NJ2317 ECP single-row cylindrical roller bearing, with main dimensions of 85 × 180 × 60 mm, accommodates high radial forces as well as unilateral axial loads.
The SKF NJ2317 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is designed as an open, single-row roller bearing with a bore diameter of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 60 mm. This model belongs to the SKF Explorer class and features an optimised internal design. In the NJ design, the component functions as a support bearing to accommodate heavy radial forces and provide single-direction axial guidance. Thanks to the inner ring, which can be removed from one side, the bearing can be fitted separately onto the shaft and into the housing.
This cylindrical roller bearing is suitable for bearing arrangements with predominantly radial load-carrying capacity, where axial forces also act in one direction. The single-sided flange on the inner ring allows this design to accommodate axial compensatory movements in the opposite direction. This accommodates temperature-induced changes in the shaft’s length without causing axial stress in the rolling bearing.
The suffix ECP stands for the combination of an optimised internal design and a polyamide cage. The material reduces the weight of the rotating parts and ensures smooth operation at temperatures between –30 and +120 degrees. The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance, dimensional accuracy to P0 or ABEC 1, and running accuracy to P6 or ABEC 3. As the outer ring has no lubrication groove and there is no integrated seal, lubricant is supplied externally via the mounting point.
With an internal diameter of 85 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 60 mm, this design complies with standardised main dimensions. These dimensions determine the installation space on the shaft and within the housing. The component is designed as a single-row support bearing.
The NJ design is characterised by two solid flanges on the outer ring and one solid flange on the inner ring. This arrangement enables the bearing to absorb radial forces whilst providing single-sided axial guidance for the shaft. In the opposite direction, the bearing design allows for axial displacement.
The abbreviation ECP refers to an optimised internal design and a polyamide cage. This material reduces the weight of the moving parts and ensures smooth operation. The design is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
In this model, dimensional accuracy is to Class P0 or ABEC 1, whilst running accuracy corresponds to the tighter Class P6 or ABEC 3. This specification ensures precise shaft concentricity.
As the outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove or lubrication bore, lubrication with grease or oil is provided via the surrounding housing. As an open design without integrated seals, the bearing arrangement requires external sealing measures to be incorporated into the structure.
The bearing has a standard radial clearance. This radial operating clearance is designed to suit common fits and helps to ensure that the cylindrical rollers can roll freely following installation when the bearing heats up.
