The SKF NUP226 ECJ cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row fixed bearing with main dimensions of 130 × 230 × 40 mm, designed for high radial loads.
As a single-row roller bearing, the SKF NUP226 ECJ cylindrical roller bearing withstands high radial forces and supports shafts axially in both directions. With key dimensions of a 130 mm bore, 230 mm outside diameter and 40 mm width, this design is suitable for use as a fixed bearing in heavy machinery. The optimised internal design of the Explorer series reduces friction at the roller end faces and flanges. This promotes even load distribution during operation and contributes to smooth running.
This cylindrical roller bearing is primarily used where high radial loads must be supported and axial displacement of the shaft must be limited. With two fixed flanges on the outer ring, one fixed flange on the inner ring and a loose flange disc, the NUP design secures the shaft on both sides in the axial direction. Typical applications include gearbox mountings and heavy-duty shaft guides in mechanical engineering, where defined axial guidance and a high load-carrying capacity are required.
The sheet steel cage keeps the cylindrical rollers spaced apart and keeps the weight low compared to solid cages. In the Explorer version, the bearing is characterised by an optimised internal design. The component features dimensional accuracy to P0/PN (ABEC 1) and tighter running accuracy to tolerance class P6 (ABEC 3). For use in sealed housings with an external lubricant supply, the open design covers a temperature range from -30 to +150 degrees.
With a cylindrical bore of 130 mm, an outside diameter of 230 mm and a width of 40 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. These dimensions facilitate the design and replacement of existing bearing locations in gearboxes or machines that require a precise fit.
As a fixed bearing, the NUP design features two fixed guide flanges on the outer ring, as well as one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. This enables the component to guide a shaft in both axial directions and to absorb not only radial forces but also alternating axial forces.
The suffix ‘EC’ refers to SKF’s optimised internal design, featuring a tailored roller geometry and contact zone at the flanges. The letter ‘J’ indicates a sheet steel cage that guides the cylindrical rollers evenly within the bearing.
The cylindrical roller bearing is designed for operation within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the actual thermal limit during operation depends largely on the lubricant selected for the surrounding assembly.
Fitted with standard radial bearing clearance, the bearing is suitable for standard fits and operating temperatures where there are no significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. This ensures an appropriate operating clearance during operation to prevent the rolling elements from seizing up.
The dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class P0 or PN (comparable to ABEC 1), whilst the running accuracy is manufactured to class P6 (ABEC 3). This ensures precise concentricity of the rotating inner ring, which reduces vibrations during operation.
