The FAG RNU203 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is designed for high radial loads in compact installations, with a pitch circle diameter of 22.1 mm, an outside diameter of 40 mm and a width of 12 mm.
The FAG RNU203 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing without an inner ring, specifically designed for space-saving applications. The cylindrical rollers run directly on a hardened and ground shaft. Due to the line contact between the rollers and the raceway, this design can withstand high radial loads. The design complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and covers an operating temperature range from –30 to +120 degrees.
This cylindrical roller bearing is suitable for industrial bearing arrangements where there is limited installation space in the radial direction. As no separate inner ring is fitted, the shaft diameter can be maximised, which increases the stiffness of the entire shaft. The design typically functions as a floating bearing, allowing axial length changes in the shaft due to heating to be compensated for freely within the bearing assembly.
The RNU design does not include an inner ring, so the shaft journal itself serves as the raceway. To ensure low-wear operation, the shaft raceway must be hardened and precision-machined. The integrated TVP2 polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration and is characterised by its low weight. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, provision must be made for lubricant supply via the housing and for external sealing of the bearing housing.
This single-row roller bearing from FAG is designed without a separate inner ring. The cylindrical rollers are guided by a polyamide cage and run directly on the shaft. With external dimensions of 40 mm in diameter and 12 mm in width, this design enables a very compact radial bearing arrangement.
The bearing has a roller envelope diameter of 22.1 mm, which serves as the reference dimension for the shaft raceway diameter in place of the conventional bore. The outer diameter is 40 mm and the width is 12 mm. The outer ring is smooth, with no groove or lubrication bore.
As the rollers roll directly on the shaft, the shaft surface acts as the inner ring. The shaft must be hardened, ground and free from scoring at the bearing location in order to achieve the full load-carrying capacity. Soft or unmachined shaft surfaces are not suitable for this type of bearing.
The abbreviation TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage. This type of cage is lightweight, flexible and helps to ensure quiet operation. The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees, which is largely determined by the material of the polyamide cage.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. The dimensional and geometric accuracy complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 standard. The actual operating clearance is established after fitting to the machined shaft diameter.
As an open roller bearing, this design does not feature sealing washers. Lubrication is provided by the surrounding housing system, for example via oil circulation or an initial grease pack. The bearing housing must be structurally sealed from the outside to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.
