The SKF NUP304 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 20x52x15 mm, offers a compact, fixed-type bearing solution capable of withstanding high radial loads and providing axial guidance on both sides.
The NUP304 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with an optimised internal design in the SKF Explorer series. The combination of cylindrical rollers and line contact enables the transmission of high radial loads whilst maintaining high rigidity. Designed as an open bearing, this model can be specifically integrated into existing lubrication circuits. A polyamide cage guides the rollers precisely and ensures smooth running within the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
This rolling bearing is used when bearing locations must simultaneously withstand high radial forces and axial guidance forces from both directions. Thanks to two fixed flanges on the outer ring, a fixed flange on the inner ring and a loose flange disc, the NUP design functions as a fully-fledged fixed bearing. The design is suitable for rotating systems in which the shaft is to be fixed axially with precision without an additional counter-bearing and where a lubricating oil or grease system is in place.
Compared with solid metal cages, the polyamide cage reduces the rotating mass and the internal friction of the rolling elements. This promotes favourable running characteristics at varying speeds. When designing the system, it is important to note that the open bearing requires a clean installation environment, as dirt particles could enter the raceways directly. The standard radial bearing clearance, together with dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P0 and increased running accuracy to P6, ensures a precise fit on 20 mm shafts.
The designation NUP denotes a fixed bearing. The outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has one fixed flange and a separate flange disc. In addition to heavy radial loads, this design also accommodates axial forces in both directions and secures the shaft axially within the housing.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 20 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and a width of 15 mm. The mounting dimensions comply with the standardised dimensions for cylindrical roller bearings of this size and allow for direct replacement in standardised bearing housings.
The bearing is designed for continuous operation between -30 and +120 degrees. The thermal operating limit is largely determined by the polyamide cage fitted. In applications within this range, the cage material remains elastic and dimensionally stable.
The bearing offers dimensional accuracy in accordance with standard tolerance P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1) and improved running accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P6 (equivalent to ABEC 3). As a result, the bearing combines practical fit tolerances during assembly with particularly smooth rotational behaviour during operation.
Yes, as this is an open bearing without integrated seal rings or cover plates, the component is not supplied with permanent lubrication as standard. During installation, the bearing must be filled with a suitable rolling-element bearing grease in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, or connected to a continuous oil lubrication system.
The suffix ECP indicates the optimised internal geometry designed to increase load-carrying capacity in combination with a polyamide cage. This design is characterised by low friction coefficients and a lightweight cage, and forms part of the SKF Explorer performance class.
