The SKF NU2311 ECP/C3 single-row cylindrical roller bearing, with a 55 mm bore and C3 clearance, offers high radial load-carrying capacity for demanding industrial applications.
The NU2311 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing serves as a heavy-duty radial bearing in machinery subject to high radial loads. With dimensions of 55 mm inner diameter, 120 mm outer diameter and 43 mm width, this open bearing can withstand high transverse forces thanks to the line contact between the rollers. SKF’s manufacturing process combines an optimised internal design with defined dimensional and running accuracy. As it does not feature integrated seals, the roller bearing is suitable for external lubrication circuits using oil or grease.
This roller bearing is primarily used in demanding applications involving high radial forces. As cylindrical rollers provide a wide contact area, the design can withstand high loads whilst maintaining good structural rigidity. The NU design functions here purely as a non-locating bearing. As the inner ring has no flanges and remains removable from both sides, the component compensates for thermal linear changes in the shaft relative to the housing within the bearing.
The NU design allows the inner and outer rings to be fitted separately, which facilitates installation and maintenance. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rollers quietly and flexibly within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The increased radial clearance (C3) counteracts bearing stress should tight shaft fits be selected or should temperature differences between the shaft and housing occur during operation.
The dimensions are 55 mm internal diameter, 120 mm external diameter and 43 mm width. These dimensions correspond to the standardised key dimensions, ensuring that the single-row roller bearing fits precisely into the corresponding housings and shaft seats.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side. This facilitates the separate installation of both rings and enables axial shaft expansion to be accommodated within the bearing.
The designation C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that is slightly greater than that of the standard version. This additional clearance compensates for operational thermal expansion of the shaft. Furthermore, the C3 bearing clearance counteracts the risk that tight fits on the shaft or in the housing might unduly restrict the bearing clearance.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight, smooth running characteristics and low friction. At SKF, the abbreviation ECP also denotes an optimised internal geometry. The cage is designed for use at operating temperatures between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
The bearing offers dimensional accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance or ABEC 1) and enhanced running accuracy in accordance with class P6 (ABEC 3). This combination ensures precise shaft guidance whilst reducing noise levels and ensuring smooth operation in industrial applications.
As an open bearing design, this model has no integrated sealing washers and no lubrication hole in the outer ring. Grease or oil is therefore supplied via the surrounding housing structure. External seals on the housing cover protect the roller bearing from contamination and prevent lubricant leakage.
