The SKF NJ2314 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 70x150x51 mm, can accommodate high radial loads as well as axial loads in one direction.
This single-row NJ2314 ECP cylindrical roller bearing in the Explorer design features an optimised internal construction for demanding bearing applications. With a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 51 mm, the bearing is suitable for mechanically stressed designs. Designed as an open bearing, it can be flexibly integrated into an existing lubrication system. The outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, whilst the standard radial clearance ensures smooth running at normal operating temperatures.
Typical applications include bearing locations where high radial forces occur and axial forces need to be supported in one direction. Due to its NJ design, this roller bearing functions as a support bearing: the inner ring has a fixed flange on one side, which means the bearing limits axial displacement of the shaft in one direction whilst allowing it in the opposite direction. Designs involving operationally induced linear expansion of shafts utilise this controlled axial displacement without the need for additional components to compensate for linear expansion.
The polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers quietly and reduces the moment of inertia of the rotating mass. This material is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. A key installation advantage lies in the inner ring, which can be removed from one side: the inner ring and outer ring, together with the roller set, can be mounted separately onto the shaft and housing. Combined with the dimensional accuracy P0 (ABEC 1) and the higher running accuracy P6 (ABEC 3), this simplifies installation in confined spaces.
The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 51 mm. These standardised dimensions determine the required installation space on the shaft and within the housing at the respective bearing location.
As a support bearing, the NJ type features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to absorb radial forces and guide the shaft in one axial direction, whilst allowing for axial movement in the opposite direction.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. These limits are determined by the polyamide cage fitted, which remains dimensionally stable and fully functional within this range. The lubricant selected must also be suitable for this temperature range.
The roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. In terms of tolerances, this design combines dimensional accuracy to Class P0 (ABEC 1) with more precise running accuracy to Class P6 (ABEC 3), which ensures precise concentricity.
As this bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers, grease or lubricating oil is supplied via the housing design. Clean installation conditions and suitable external seals help to protect the open rolling element system from dirt and moisture.
At SKF, the suffix ‘ECP’ denotes an optimised internal design combined with a polyamide cage. Together with its classification as an Explorer bearing, this design contributes to favourable stress distribution and reduced frictional resistance.
