The SKF NU2207 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing combines dimensions of 35x72x23 mm with increased C3 clearance and a removable inner ring for heavily loaded loose bearing arrangements.
The single-row cylindrical roller bearing NU2207 ECP/C3 from SKF, as an open radial roller bearing, can accommodate very high radial forces. Thanks to its optimised internal design, this bearing type distributes radial shock loads evenly across the roller raceway. With a bore of 35 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 23 mm, this rolling bearing is primarily used as a sliding support bearing in mechanical drives and shaft guides.
This cylindrical roller bearing is designed for bearing arrangements that must exclusively support radial loads and compensate for thermal linear expansion of the shaft. As the inner ring can be removed from both ends, the shaft can be displaced axially relative to the housing whilst the bearing is in operation. Typical applications include shaft mountings subject to high dynamic radial forces and temperature-induced axial displacement. The integrated polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers with low friction within a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The suffixes ECP and C3 denote specific features for demanding operating environments. The lightweight polyamide cage reduces the moment of inertia of the rolling elements, which lowers energy consumption and promotes low-vibration operation. At the same time, the slightly increased radial clearance of Group C3 compensates for operating-related temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. This ensures that sufficient operating clearance is maintained even under full thermal operating load or with tight fits. As the bearing is unsealed, the bearing housing requires external sealing and a lubricant supply.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 35 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 23 mm. These standardised key dimensions determine the required fit on the shaft and in the bearing housing. The NU design allows the inner ring to be fitted separately from the pre-assembled roller set in the outer ring.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the rollers and raceways prevents the bearing from becoming stressed when it heats up during operation or as a result of tight fits. Designs subject to high temperature build-up or significant temperature differentials between the shaft and housing benefit from this design.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to be withdrawn unhindered in either direction. This feature enables the unrestricted compensation of linear expansion of the shaft and makes the separate installation of both rings considerably easier.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and high elasticity. It dampens vibrations and reduces noise during operation. The permissible temperature range for this type of cage is between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius, which meets the requirements of common industrial applications.
As an open cylindrical roller bearing without integrated sealing washers, the NU2207 model can be operated with either grease or lubricating oil. The lubricant must be selected to suit the operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius and the loads to which it is subjected. The surrounding housing must also be protected against dirt by means of external seals.
The dimensional accuracy of this bearing complies with the standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1, whilst its running accuracy complies with the tighter tolerance class P6 (ABEC 3). This combination ensures smooth, even rotation during operation without placing any special demands on the tolerances of the connecting components.
