The FAG NJ412 -M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with a 60 mm bore, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and axial guidance in one direction.
The NJ412 -M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With main dimensions of 60x150x35 mm, this open bearing can accommodate high radial loads. Thanks to the NJ design, the outer ring has two solid flanges, whilst the inner ring has one solid flange. As a result, this design functions as a support bearing that axially fixes shafts on one side whilst allowing for axial movement in the opposite direction. The inner ring can be axially withdrawn for installation.
This design is particularly suitable for bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads and one-way axial force. Typical applications include heavy-duty industrial shaft bearings subject to thermal stress. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately and reliably, even on shaft ends that are difficult to access. In combination with a suitable non-locating bearing, the design compensates for thermal linear expansion of the shaft during operation.
The designation M1A refers to a solid, externally guided brass cage. This guidance on the outer ring ensures stable roller guidance at high speeds and during rapid acceleration. The slightly increased radial clearance (C3) counteracts stress build-up should operational heating or tight fits reduce the operating clearance. With a permissible temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees, the bearing is suitable for thermally demanding industrial environments without a groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring.
As a thrust bearing, the NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the rolling bearing to withstand not only very high radial forces but also axial loads from one direction. In the opposite direction, the design allows for axial displacement.
The single-row bearing has a bore diameter of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width across flats of 35 mm. The dimensional and running tolerances comply with the ‘Normal’ tolerance class (P0/PN or ABEC 1).
The designation M1A refers to a solid brass cage that is guided on the outer ring (externally guided). This design is characterised by high resistance to vibrations and centrifugal forces, and guides the cylindrical rollers precisely within the raceways.
The C3 bearing clearance group offers a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard. It compensates for any radial reduction in bearing clearance caused by tight fits on the shaft or housing oversizes, as well as by temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during operation.
As this cylindrical roller bearing is manufactured without integrated sealing washers, sealing is provided by the surrounding housing structure. The required lubricant (grease or oil) is also supplied to the bearing via this housing system, as the outer ring does not have its own lubrication groove.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. In addition to the material specification of the bearing components, the thermal stability of the externally applied lubricant is a key factor in determining the actual operating temperature during continuous operation.
