The SKF NU2217 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, a single-row idler bearing with an 85 mm bore, offers a high radial load-carrying capacity in a compact design.
The SKF NU2217 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is designed for radial loads in machinery and gearbox construction. Thanks to its Explorer design and optimised internal construction, this single-row bearing can accommodate high radial forces. With an inside diameter of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 36 mm, this roller bearing is suitable for specific shaft guides. As it is an open bearing, the lubricant can be flexibly adapted to the specific operating environment.
This radial bearing is primarily used where high transverse forces act on rotating shafts. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in bearing arrangements subject to purely radial loads. Designed as a pure idler bearing, the cylindrical roller bearing compensates for thermal length changes in the shaft within the bearing itself. The integrated polyamide cage contributes to quiet running and keeps friction low at medium to high speeds.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides. This separability facilitates the assembly and disassembly of the bearing rings, as the inner and outer rings can be mounted separately onto the shaft and housing. For maintenance and design purposes, this principle also simplifies inspection of the bearing location. Combined with dimensional accuracy P0 and running accuracy P6, this provides a precise component for machine seats requiring a precise fit.
The bearing combines an optimised internal design in the SKF Explorer series with a lightweight polyamide cage. The NU design acts as a non-locating bearing and accommodates purely radial forces. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, this design is suitable for high radial loads.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 36 mm. These key dimensions define the installation space required on the shaft and in the housing bore. Before installation, it is advisable to check the dimensions against the drawing data for the bearing location.
In the NU cylindrical roller bearing, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to move axially in both directions relative to the roller set. The bearing compensates for changes in the length of the shaft without causing axial stress in the structure.
The polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers with precision and keeps the weight of the rotating components low. Polyamide materials have favourable sliding properties and help to reduce noise. Furthermore, the material absorbs mechanical shocks during operation.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. The upper temperature limit is largely determined by the thermal operating range of the polyamide cage and the lubricant selected. For applications within this range, the open bearing ensures stable dimensional accuracy of the bearing rings.
The bearing has a dimensional accuracy of class P0 or ABEC 1 and a finer running accuracy of class P6 or ABEC 3. The standard dimensional accuracy allows for installation using standard fits, whilst the tighter P6 running tolerance ensures smooth concentricity during operation.
