The FAG N224 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 120 × 215 × 40 mm, is a single-row idler bearing designed to accommodate high radial loads in mechanical engineering applications.
The N224 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing with a bore diameter of 120 mm, an outer diameter of 215 mm and a width of 40 mm. This open roller bearing is manufactured by FAG and features a lightweight polyamide cage and standard radial clearance. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, the design can withstand considerable radial loads. The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees.
This cylindrical roller bearing is primarily used in industrial bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces and axial shaft displacement. As it is of the N design, the inner ring guides the rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the outer ring is flangeless. This design functions as a pure idler bearing. The component compensates for axial changes in shaft length caused by thermal expansion during operation directly within the bearing, without any forced alignment.
The outer ring, which can be removed from both sides and has no flanges, facilitates the assembly and disassembly of both bearing rings. Designers utilise this advantage to fit the inner and outer rings separately onto the shaft and housing. The integrated polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rolling elements with low noise and vibration. The component complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. As the bearing is of open design, your associated assembly requires an external seal and a suitable lubrication supply.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing from FAG has a bore of 120 mm, an outside diameter of 215 mm and a width of 40 mm. It functions as a non-locating bearing of type N with a flangeless outer ring. The design features a polyamide cage, standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
As a non-locating bearing, this design accommodates radial forces only. The flangeless outer ring allows the shaft and inner ring to move axially relative to the housing. This axial movement prevents mechanical stress that may arise from operational thermal expansion of the shaft and ensures smooth running of the bearing assembly.
The polyamide cage maintains an even spacing between the rollers and is characterised by its low weight. The material operates elastically and quietly, and reduces friction during dynamic movements. With this cage material, the permissible operating temperature range of the bearing is between -30 and +120 degrees.
The bearing has no integrated seals, which means that grease or lubricating oil can reach the raceways unhindered. The outer ring has neither a lubrication groove nor lubrication holes. Consequently, the lubricant must be supplied via the surrounding structure. External seals in the bearing housing protect the open system from dirt particles and liquids.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance between the rollers and the raceways when no load is applied. It provides the appropriate operating clearance for standard fits on cylindrical shaft seats and normal temperature gradients between the inner and outer rings. For special applications involving extreme press fits or temperature differences, increased bearing clearance groups may be required.
Thanks to the flangeless design, the outer ring can be completely separated from the inner ring and the roller set. Both bearing rings can be fitted independently of one another onto the shaft and the housing bore without damaging the rolling elements during assembly. This simplifies installation work, maintenance intervals and inspections in industrial settings.
