The FAG N230 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row idler bearing with a brass cage, with main dimensions of 150 x 270 x 45 mm, designed for high radial loads.
The single-row cylindrical roller bearing N230 -E-M1 from FAG, as a radial roller bearing, withstands high radial forces. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, the design offers high rigidity during operation. This model is an open roller bearing without seals, allowing lubricants to reach the contact surfaces unhindered. Designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees, the bearing is suitable for demanding industrial drives and heavy-duty machine mountings.
This cylindrical roller bearing is primarily used where high radial loads occur and axial changes in shaft length need to be compensated for. As a floating bearing, the design compensates for thermal expansion within the bearing without constraint. Typical applications include rotating shafts in fixed-floating bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads. The solid brass cage reliably guides the cylindrical rollers along their path, even during rapid acceleration.
The N design features two fixed flanges on the inner ring, whilst the outer ring is manufactured without flanges and is removable from both sides. This design significantly simplifies both assembly and disassembly, as the inner and outer rings can be mounted separately onto the shaft and housing. As the outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the housing design. The design with standard radial bearing clearance ensures a defined operating clearance under normal installation and temperature conditions.
As a single-row thrust bearing of type N, this design accommodates radial forces only and compensates for axial displacement between the shaft and housing directly in the rolling element area. Furthermore, this variant features a guided brass cage for demanding operating conditions.
With a bore of 150 mm, an outside diameter of 270 mm and a width of 45 mm, the roller bearing has standardised mounting dimensions. This allows it to be fitted precisely into the intended shaft-housing assembly.
In the N design, the inner ring has two fixed flanges which guide the roller set and the cage laterally. The outer ring has no flanges and can be freely removed from either side. As a result, the component acts purely as a floating bearing to compensate for shaft expansion.
A solid brass cage is characterised by high strength and good run-on properties. It withstands mechanical vibrations, high impact forces and high acceleration values, such as those regularly encountered in heavy machinery and industrial drives.
The open cylindrical roller bearing is specified for temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. As it does not incorporate any integrated seals, the thermal operating limit during operation depends largely on the temperature stability of the lubricant used.
Manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance (standard clearance) and to tolerance class P0 or PN (comparable to ABEC 1), this component is suitable for standard applications in mechanical engineering under normal operating conditions.
