The NU316 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager, with main dimensions of 80 × 170 × 39 mm, withstands high radial loads during operation.
The NU316 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager designed for industrial applications involving predominantly radial loads. With a bore of 80 mm, an outside diameter of 170 mm and a width of 39 mm, the design is capable of withstanding high loads. As the inner ring is manufactured without a flange, the NU design acts as a non-locating bearing. This allows for axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing directly within the bearing.
This bearing design is primarily used in bearing arrangements in general mechanical and plant engineering where thermal length changes in the shaft need to be compensated for. Thanks to the free-end bearing function, no impermissible axial stresses occur even when the bearing heats up. As the rolling bearing is of open design, the lubricant can circulate unhindered. The external design of the bearing housing ensures protection against dirt and moisture.
The polyamide (TVP2) cage guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and is characterised by its low weight and low-vibration operation. The design covers a temperature range from –30 to +120 degrees. Furthermore, the design offers significant assembly advantages: as the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately onto the shaft and into the housing, which makes installation and inspection considerably easier.
With an internal diameter of 80 mm, an external diameter of 170 mm and a width of 39 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. These dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into housings and onto shafts designed for this standardised size.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges to guide the rollers, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to move axially in both directions. The bearing acts as a non-locating bearing and accommodates changes in the shaft’s length without inducing stress.
As an open roller bearing, this design does not feature any integrated sealing washers. Lubricants can circulate freely, which is why the bearing is connected to an external lubrication system using oil or grease. Protection against contaminants and moisture is provided by the surrounding housing structure.
The suffix TVP2 indicates a polyamide cage. This material ensures a low weight compared with solid metal cages and contributes to low-vibration, smooth running. The cage is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
This version is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance, which is suitable for standard installation conditions. There are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, and standard fits are used on the shaft and in the housing.
The dimensional and running tolerances correspond to the standard tolerance classes P0 and PN respectively, which correspond to the ABEC 1 standard. This class meets the requirements for concentricity and dimensional accuracy in mechanical engineering under conventional operating conditions.
