The FAG 20208-TVP spherical roller bearing, measuring 40 x 80 x 18 mm, provides angular misalignment compensation for high radial loads in continuous industrial operation.
The FAG 20208 -TVP spherical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with a spherical outer ring raceway, which accommodates radial loads and compensates for shaft misalignment. With a 40 mm bore, 80 mm outer diameter and 18 mm width, this design is suitable for installation locations with deflection or misalignment. Thanks to its standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the bearing can be incorporated into standardised machine set-ups.
Its use is recommended at bearing locations where high radial forces occur and misalignments between the shaft and housing are present. Thanks to the barrel-shaped rollers, the design compensates for angular deviations without causing harmful edge pressures on the rolling elements. Typical installation locations include shaft guides that are prone to elastic deformation under load. In conjunction with external housing seals, the open design forms a maintenance-friendly unit for radial loads.
The TVP cage, made of polyamide, promotes smooth running and reduces the moving mass within the rolling bearing. At operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees, the material retains its stability and dampens dynamic loads. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, the lubrication is tailored directly to the ambient conditions. The normal radial bearing clearance helps to ensure that the bearing can rotate freely even when heated during operation.
With an internal bore of 40 mm, an external diameter of 80 mm and a width of 18 mm, this version conforms to standard dimensional series. These dimensions allow for direct replacement in suitable mounting spaces. Before installation, the shaft seat and housing fit must be adjusted to these values.
The suffix ‘TVP’ indicates a polyamide cage. This material reduces the cage’s weight, promotes smooth running and dampens operating noise compared with metal cages. The permissible operating temperature range for this polyamide cage is between -30 and +120 degrees.
The hollow-spherical outer ring raceway allows the barrel-shaped rollers to adjust their angular position within the raceway. If shaft deflection or misalignment occurs, the roller-inner ring assembly pivots within the outer ring. This prevents edge stresses whilst maintaining the load-bearing capacity against radial forces.
Without integrated sealing washers, the bearing requires an external supply of grease or oil via the surrounding machine housing. This design allows the lubricant to be precisely matched to the operating temperature and speed. At the same time, the open design facilitates easy relubrication and the complete flushing out of used lubricants without leaving any residue.
The model has standard radial bearing clearance, which is why there is no specific clearance code in its name. This clearance is suitable for standard interference fits and moderate temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during normal machine operation.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This standard tolerance defines the permissible dimensional and concentricity deviations for the bore, outer diameter and width. It meets the requirements of general mechanical and plant engineering.
