The SKF 29360 E axial self-aligning roller bearing accommodates high axial forces on one side and compensates for misalignment with angular movement for a shaft diameter of 300 mm.
The SKF 29360 E single-direction axial self-aligning roller bearing is suitable for demanding industrial applications involving very high axial loads. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) in the SKF Explorer design, the component withstands thermal loads ranging from –30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The design automatically compensates for angular misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the barrel-shaped rollers. With the standard tolerance P0/PN (ABEC 1), the roller bearing meets common industrial requirements in heavy machinery manufacturing.
This large bearing primarily accommodates heavy axial loads acting in one direction. At the same time, its internal geometry withstands superimposed radial forces. It is typically used in heavily loaded bearing arrangements with a single-sided thrust load, where considerable forces occur. If loads cause the shaft to deflect, the spherical housing disc compensates for misalignment without causing a clamping effect. This reduces edge stresses on the roller bodies and keeps frictional resistance low.
The version with a sheet steel cage combines mechanical strength with thermal resistance across the temperature range from –30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The cage keeps the rollers spaced apart and promotes even lubricant distribution. As axial self-aligning roller bearings are not self-retaining, fit the shaft ring, roller set and housing ring separately, one at a time. When designing the assembly, ensure that a minimum axial load is always applied during operation to prevent slippage between the rolling elements and raceways.
A rolling bearing designed primarily for axial forces in a single direction, with a bore diameter of 300 mm, an outer diameter of 480 mm and a width of 109 mm. The spherical raceway of the housing disc enables angular self-alignment. This allows the bearing to compensate for misalignment or shaft deflection without causing adverse edge loads on the rolling elements.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 300 mm at the shaft flange, an external diameter of 480 mm at the housing flange and a total width of 109 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions for large bearings in this series. Before installation, check the installation space in your machine housing and the dimensions of the connecting shaft.
The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The hardened 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the robust sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. When selecting the lubricant, you must ensure that the oil or grease is also approved for the prevailing temperature within the unit.
This designation refers to the standard tolerance class for industrial rolling bearings. The dimensional, geometric and running accuracy of the raceways and rings fall within the standard tolerances for mechanical engineering. For most industrial drives, this precision grade offers a balanced combination of fitting accuracy, load-carrying capacity and cost-effective installation on the shaft and in the bearing housing.
Axial self-aligning roller bearings require a continuous axial load during operation. If this basic load is absent, the rolling elements lift slightly, resulting in slippage and disruptive sliding movements on the raceways. Applying a specific preload using shaft nuts, springs or shims ensures that the rollers roll smoothly and effectively prevents premature wear.
Thanks to the modular design, you can fit the housing disc, shaft disc and roller set with sheet steel cage separately. This makes it considerably easier to fit the heavy components onto the 300 mm shaft. Align the mating surfaces carefully and ensure that the open bearing is thoroughly protected from contamination during assembly.
