The SKF 29415 E single-direction axial self-aligning roller bearing (75x160x51 mm) accommodates heavy axial loads and compensates for misalignment during operation.
The SKF 29415 E axial self-aligning roller bearing is designed for industrial applications where heavy axial loads occur. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), this bearing is characterised by its dimensional stability and load-carrying capacity. Thanks to the crowned rollers and the spherical raceway of the housing disc, the bearing adjusts to angular misalignment. This design compensates for misalignment or shaft deflection during operation, thereby counteracting edge pressure on the roller edges.
This rolling bearing is typically used in designs where axial forces in a single direction are the primary load. In addition to the main axial forces, the design can also withstand moderate radial loads. Thanks to its wide temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees, the component is also suitable for installation spaces subject to thermal stress. Typical applications are found in heavy machinery and plant engineering, where angular misalignment between the shaft and housing may occur.
When designing the bearing mounting, the main dimensions – a 75 mm bore, 160 mm outer diameter and 51 mm width – must be taken into account. The SKF Explorer bearing design features an optimised internal geometry and finely machined contact surfaces. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely and withstands the mechanical stresses of continuous operation. As the bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, it can be integrated into standardised housing and shaft fits.
With an internal diameter of 75 mm, an external diameter of 160 mm and a height of 51 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions. These mounting dimensions allow for a precise replacement in existing systems. Before installation, the available installation space on the shaft and housing, as well as the axial bearing alignment, must be checked.
High axial forces acting in a single direction constitute the primary application for this single-acting bearing. Thanks to the angled rollers, moderate radial forces can also be accommodated. The spherical geometry also ensures that static and dynamic misalignments between the shaft and the housing are compensated for.
The manufacturer SKF uses the ‘Explorer’ designation to indicate an optimised performance class. Explorer bearings are based on standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) with refined surface finishes on the raceways and optimised roller geometry. During operation, this results in lower friction and a more even load distribution across the entire length of the rollers.
The specified temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees. The robust sheet steel cage and the roller bearing steel retain their mechanical strength and dimensional stability within this temperature range. In the event of sustained high temperatures, care must be taken to use a lubricant that is approved for the relevant temperature range.
A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the spherical rollers along their raceway. Sheet steel cages offer high strength combined with low weight and are suitable for standard greases and industrial oils. They withstand impact loads and ensure smooth operation under industrial conditions.
Manufactured to standard tolerances in accordance with Class P0/PN or ABEC 1, this bearing meets the standard requirements for general mechanical engineering. This level of precision facilitates the selection of suitable fits for the shaft and housing. Special tolerances are not normally required for this type of bearing.
