The SKF 52315 axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates axial loads from both directions and provides precise shaft guidance, with dimensions of 60x135x79 mm.
The 52315 axial deep groove ball bearing is a double-acting axial bearing from SKF designed to accommodate axial thrust forces from two directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), the design guides a shaft axially in both directions. With a bore of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 135 mm and a width of 79 mm, the bearing is suitable for heavily loaded mechanical assemblies. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
This axial bearing is suitable for designs where alternating axial forces or axial forces acting in both directions need to be supported. This type of bearing cannot accommodate purely radial forces. Typical applications are found in general industrial and fixture construction in bearing arrangements subject to thrust loads on both sides. As the bearing is not angularly adjustable, its use requires precisely machined, perpendicular contact surfaces on the shaft and housing.
During installation, care must be taken to ensure the exact alignment of the mating surfaces. This design does not include separate shims and does not compensate for misalignment between the shaft axis and the housing bore. Alignment errors lead to uneven loading of the raceways. Tolerance class P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1) defines the standard dimensional and running accuracy. A lubricant suitable for the intended temperature range is selected to ensure proper lubrication and heat dissipation.
As a double-acting axial bearing, this product supports only axial forces, but does so in both directions along the axis. Radial forces must not be transmitted via this component. The shaft disc is fixed centrally, whilst two separate ball rings transfer the alternating thrust forces to the respective housing discs.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 60 mm at the shaft flange, an outside diameter of 135 mm and a total height or width of 79 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when installed in housing bores and on load-bearing shaft sections.
Double-acting axial bearings consist of a common shaft ring, two sets of ball rings in cages and two housing rings. This multi-part design makes it possible to combine the guidance and load-bearing functions of the shaft in both axial directions within a single bearing unit, without having to fit two separate single-direction axial bearings.
The combination of heat-treated 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage covers a temperature range from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. When designing the application, care must be taken to ensure that the lubricant used is specified for the actual operating temperatures prevailing inside the housing.
No, this model is not angle-adjustable. The flat contact surfaces require the connecting parts to be aligned strictly at right angles to the axis of rotation. Even slight misalignments generate edge stresses on the raceways, which is why the contact surfaces on the housing and shaft must be machined to be flat and flush.
In this design, a sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements. This type of cage is characterised by its low weight and allows space for the lubricant to circulate between the balls and the raceways, thereby promoting even lubricant distribution.
