The SKF 53204 single-direction axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates purely axial loads and has an inner diameter of 20 mm and an outer diameter of 40 mm.
The 53204 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed to accommodate axial forces from a single direction. The components are made from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) and are suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The guided sheet steel cage maintains the rolling elements at a uniform distance. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, this design fits seamlessly into standardised machine designs.
This rolling bearing provides axial support for rotating shafts against fixed housing surfaces. Typical applications can be found wherever axial compressive forces occur and no radial loads are permitted to act on the axial bearing. Design engineers frequently use this design in combination with separate radial bearings to clearly separate the different load types. Thanks to its wide temperature range, the bearing retains its dimensional stability even when heat is generated during the process.
This series features a spherical housing washer, which enables the bearing to compensate for misalignment. This angular compensation comes into effect as soon as you fit the appropriate washer with a spherical recessed surface. The scope of delivery for this item comprises only the axial deep-groove ball bearing without a shim. If the mating parts are not precisely aligned or there are slight misalignments in the housing, please order the appropriate shim separately to avoid edge stresses.
This version has a bore of 20 mm, an external diameter of 40 mm and a height of 14.7 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct fitting onto suitable shaft journals and into pre-drilled housing bores.
The design transmits axial forces from one direction only. This axial bearing cannot support radial forces, which is why radial loads must always be supported by separate radial bearings on the shaft.
The housing washer has a spherical contact surface that can compensate for misalignment. However, this angular adjustability only works in conjunction with a spherical washer, which is available separately and is not included in this pack.
The discs and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel of the 100Cr6 grade. This through-hardened material offers high hardness and dimensional stability. A cage made from pressed sheet steel serves as the guide element.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. Within these limits, the rolling elements, washers and steel cage retain their dimensional stability. Ensure you select a lubricant that also covers this temperature range.
The bearing is manufactured to standard tolerances, which correspond to classes P0/PN and ABEC 1. This standard level of precision is sufficient for the vast majority of industrial applications in mechanical engineering and fixture manufacturing.
