The FAG 51311 single-direction axial deep-groove ball bearing accommodates purely axial forces and has main dimensions of 55 x 105 x 35 mm.
The 51311 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed to accommodate single-direction axial forces. With a bore of 55 mm, an outside diameter of 105 mm and a height of 35 mm, the shaft collar provides axial guidance on the rotating shaft. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6), the bearing operates within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The guided sheet steel cage maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements.
This rolling bearing is designed to accommodate axial loads acting on the shaft from a single direction only. As this design is not intended to accommodate radial forces, it is usually combined in practice with separate radial bearings. Typical applications include vertical shaft mountings and assemblies in which defined axial thrust forces occur. The flat housing washer requires a perpendicular contact surface, as this design is not angle-adjustable.
The 51311 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed to standard tolerance (P0/PN or ABEC 1) as a bearing set without an additional shim. The shaft washer, housing washer and the ball-guided sheet steel cage can be fitted separately, which facilitates installation in assemblies. As the bearing does not automatically compensate for manufacturing-related misalignment, precise alignment of the connecting parts is essential to prevent localised edge pressure on the rolling elements.
The bearing absorbs pure axial forces in one direction and supports the shaft at one end. This type of bearing must not be subjected to radial loads. For combined loads, an additional radial bearing must therefore be fitted on the same shaft.
The bore of the shaft disc is 55 mm, the outer diameter of the housing disc is 105 mm and the overall height is 35 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when installed in standardised housing bores and on corresponding shaft seats.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the integrated sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. When designing the bearing, attention must also be paid to the temperature resistance of the lubricant used.
No, this model does not have adjustable angles. The flat housing disc requires connecting parts that are flat and manufactured at a precise right angle to the axis of rotation. Any misalignment or skewing of the shaft will increase friction and edge pressure, which is why precise alignment is essential.
A sheet steel cage is fitted. It guides the balls evenly along their circular path and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. This reduces heat build-up and ensures smooth running across the entire permissible speed range.
The scope of delivery includes the complete bearing set, comprising the shaft washer, housing washer and the ball ring with cage. Additional shims for angular compensation are not included with this item and must be selected separately if required.
