The FAG 51210 axial deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 50 × 78 × 22 mm, accommodates pure axial loads from one direction.
The FAG 51210 axial deep-groove ball bearing is a single-acting thrust bearing made from standard rolling-element steel (100Cr6). It is specifically designed to absorb axial forces and supports the shaft on one side. Due to its design, this bearing must not be subjected to radial loads. With a bore of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 78 mm and a width of 22 mm, it is suitable for industrial applications requiring axial guidance. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees.
This rolling bearing is suitable for designs in which only axial forces in one direction are present. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering for bearing arrangements with a defined axial thrust direction. As the bearing is not angularly adjustable, it requires plane-parallel and perpendicular contact surfaces on the housing and shaft. The single-acting design absorbs axial thrust forces and allows separate mounting of the shaft flange, housing flange and ball-cage assembly.
Before installation, check the exact pairing of the shaft washer and housing washer. The shaft washer has a ground bore for guidance on the shaft, whilst the housing washer has radial clearance within the housing. This version is supplied without a washer and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. When designing the assembly, ensure there is an external seal and a continuous supply of lubricant, suitable for the temperature range from -30 to +150 degrees.
This roller bearing has a bore diameter of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 78 mm and a height of 22 mm. The components are designed as a single-acting unit. Check the installation space carefully, as axial deep-groove ball bearings require a precise, perpendicular contact surface on the shaft shoulder and the housing seat.
This design accommodates only axial forces acting on the shaft flange from a single direction. The axial bearing cannot transmit radial loads; a separate radial bearing arrangement must be provided for this purpose. A constant minimum axial load during operation prevents the rolling elements from lifting off the raceways and counteracts harmful slippage.
The P0 classification (corresponding to standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1) defines the standard accuracy for dimensional and geometric stability in industrial roller bearing manufacture. It meets the standard requirements of mechanical engineering regarding concentricity, parallelism and dimensional accuracy in axially guided assemblies.
The 100Cr6 material and the integrated sheet steel cage allow for use within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. However, the actual operating limit is determined by the lubricant used. Select a grease or lubricating oil whose thermal suitability matches the relevant environmental conditions.
The housing washer for this bearing is manufactured with a flat contact surface and is fitted without a spherical washer. The component therefore does not compensate for misalignment or skew between the shaft and the housing. When manufacturing the connecting parts, ensure precise right-angled alignment to avoid edge stresses.
The housing, shaft collar and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This case-hardened chrome steel offers dimensional stability under axial compressive loads. The balls are guided by a sheet steel cage, which ensures low-friction operation and aids the distribution of lubricant within the bearing.
