The SKF 51104 single-direction axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates pure axial forces in one direction and has dimensions of 20x35x10 mm.
The 51104 axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates axial forces in one direction and provides axial support for the shaft. This SKF model is made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) and features a sheet steel cage. With a bore diameter of 20 mm, an outside diameter of 35 mm and a width of 10 mm, the rolling bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). As it supports axial loads only, no radial load must act on the bearing. The scope of supply includes the bearing without a washer.
This single-direction axial bearing is designed to specifically absorb forces parallel to the shaft. It guides rotating shafts in exactly one axial direction against a housing. Typical applications can be found in mechanical engineering wherever vertical shaft loads or single-sided axial forces occur. As this component is not designed to transmit radial forces, designers usually combine it in practice with a separate radial bearing.
The 51104 axial deep-groove ball bearing is not angle-adjustable. The contact surfaces on the shaft and housing must therefore be perpendicular to the shaft axis to avoid uneven edge stresses. Manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and fitted with a sheet steel cage, the component is suitable for a temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees Celsius. During installation, the housing washer rests directly against a flat housing wall, as no shim is supplied.
As a single-sided design, the SKF model supports shafts against axial forces. With dimensions of 20 mm bore diameter, 35 mm outer diameter and 10 mm width, it is made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly within the raceway.
This component is designed exclusively to withstand axial loads from a single direction. It must not be subjected to radial loads. For practical operation, it is therefore recommended that it be used in conjunction with a radial bearing, which provides radial support for the shaft.
No, the design is not angle-adjustable. The bearing is sensitive to misalignment or tilting between the shaft and the housing. All contact surfaces must be machined to be perfectly flat and at right angles to the axis of rotation in order to prevent localised load peaks on the rolling elements.
This model is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius. Both the bearing washers, made from roller bearing steel, and the sheet steel cage are capable of withstanding these thermal conditions whilst maintaining dimensional stability. The selected lubricant must cover the same temperature range for operation.
The P0/PN classification (comparable to ABEC 1) defines the standard tolerance class for dimensional and running accuracy. It provides standardised manufacturing tolerances in accordance with the relevant standard, which meet the requirements of most industrial applications in conventional mechanical engineering.
The scope of supply includes the axial deep-groove ball bearing without shims. The flat housing washer rests directly against the rigid housing stop. If compensation for manufacturing-related misalignment is required, special versions with a spherical housing washer are necessary.
