The FAG 51208 axial deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 40x68x19 mm, is designed to accommodate unidirectional axial forces in mechanical engineering applications.
The 51208 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed to specifically accommodate unidirectional axial forces in shaft guides. With a bore of 40 mm, an outside diameter of 68 mm and a width of 19 mm, this design is suitable for standardised mounting spaces. FAG manufactures this bearing from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) with a guided sheet steel cage. The manufacturing accuracy complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, thereby ensuring that defined mounting dimensions in mechanical engineering are maintained.
The component is used in bearing arrangements where purely axial forces must be absorbed in a defined direction and no radial loads act on the bearing. For combined forces, separate radial bearings must be provided. With a thermal rating suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees, the component operates in industrial environments with continuous axial load-bearing.
The design specifically supports shaft forces in one direction and consists of separately mountable discs. As the bearing is not angularly adjustable and is designed without a shim, the design requires precisely perpendicular and rigid mating surfaces on the housing and shaft. Misalignment or skewing cannot be compensated for. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly between the housing and shaft discs.
With a bore of 40 mm, an outside diameter of 68 mm and a height of 19 mm, this roller bearing determines the required axial clearance between the shaft shoulder and the housing stop in the bearing arrangement.
The bearing is designed to accommodate pure axial forces from a single direction. This design cannot transmit radial forces, which is why additional radial bearings are required in the design when combined loads are present.
No, the design is not angle-adjustable and is manufactured without a washer. Any misalignment between the shaft and the housing cannot be compensated for, which is why the contact surfaces must be exactly perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the sheet steel cage remain dimensionally stable within this range, provided that the lubricant used is suitable for these temperatures.
The manufacture complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which is comparable to international standard class ABEC 1. This standard tolerance covers the usual accuracy requirements for running and mating surfaces in mechanical engineering.
