The FAG 54307 double-acting axial deep-groove ball bearing (30x68x47.2 mm) accommodates axial forces from both directions and can be fitted with shims to allow for angular adjustment.
The 54307 axial deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is designed as a double-acting rolling bearing for pure axial loads from both directions. Thanks to this design, the bearing guides the shaft axially in two directions. Manufactured from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a robust sheet steel cage, the design is rated for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. It is manufactured to standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1 for use in industrial mechanical engineering.
This design is used when shafts need to absorb axial thrust forces from varying directions, whilst any radial loads are supported by separate radial bearings. In combination with suitable spherical washers, the spherical housing washer compensates for installation-related angular errors or misalignments of the connecting parts. Without additional washers, the assembly serves as a rigid axial guide on flat-machined housing surfaces.
The scope of supply comprises only the 54307 axial deep-groove ball bearing without washers. If the angular movement function is to be used to compensate for misalignment, appropriate compensating washers must be provided separately. The installation geometry requires a shaft with a diameter of 30 mm, a housing bore with an external diameter of 68 mm, and an installation space for a width of 47.2 mm. As the bearing components are unsealed, the choice of lubricant and housing seals must be adapted to the operating conditions.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 30 mm at the shaft flange, an external diameter of 68 mm at the housing flanges and a total width of 47.2 mm. These dimensions determine the space required for installation on the shaft and within the housing.
Double-acting axial bearings consist of a central shaft ring, two ball rings and two outer housing rings. This enables them to absorb axial forces from both axial directions and guide the supported shaft longitudinally on both sides.
The housing washers have a hollow spherical outer surface. When used in conjunction with separately available shims, this design allows for a swivelling movement. In this way, the bearing compensates for misalignment between the shaft and the housing bore, thereby preventing the bearing from running on its edges.
No, the scope of supply includes only the axial deep-groove ball bearing without washers. If your bearing mounting requires angular adjustment capabilities, the appropriate spherical shims must be selected and supplied separately.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees. The bearing washers, made from 100Cr6 roller bearing steel, and the guided sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability and mechanical strength within this temperature range.
Axial deep-groove ball bearings are designed exclusively to support axial loads. Radial forces must not act on the bearing, as they will damage the raceways. A separate radial bearing must be fitted on the shaft to accommodate any radial load components.
