The SKF 51226 single-direction axial deep groove ball bearing reliably supports pure axial loads on shafts with a diameter of 130 mm.
The SKF 51226 axial deep groove ball bearing supports axial forces from a defined direction. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), this component has a bore diameter of 130 mm. The outer diameter is 190 mm with a height of 45 mm. The rolling elements run in a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, which ensures uniform spacing. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +150 degrees. Thanks to its standardised design, users in industry and the trades will find a suitable component for guided rotational movements.
The design accommodates axial loads exclusively and guides the shaft in one direction. Typical applications include assemblies with predominantly axial loads and vertically aligned shafts in general mechanical engineering. Due to its design, this version cannot accommodate purely radial forces, which is why the bearing position in the system is combined with a separate radial bearing. Thanks to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, the bearing meets the standard accuracy requirements for industrial applications without the need for higher precision classes.
As this axial deep-groove ball bearing is not angle-adjustable, it requires precisely machined mating surfaces. Misalignment between the shaft axis and the housing can lead to edge running and accelerate wear. The scope of supply includes the axial deep-groove ball bearing without shims. During installation, qualified personnel distinguish between the shaft washer and the housing washer: The washer with the smaller bore fits tightly onto the 130 mm shaft, whilst the housing washer, with its larger internal diameter, is guided radially and freely within the 190 mm housing.
The dimensions are 130 mm bore diameter, 190 mm outer diameter and 45 mm overall height. These dimensions define the installation space required on the shaft and within the housing. The bearing consists of a shaft washer, a housing washer and the guided ball cage, which together, when assembled, have a total height of 45 mm.
This axial bearing is designed to act on one side only and absorbs axial forces from a single direction. No load must be applied in the radial direction, as axial deep-groove ball bearings are, by design, unable to transmit radial forces. For combined loads, it is recommended that the shaft be supported additionally by a separate radial bearing.
The component can be used within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The temperature resistance of the selected lubricant, as well as that of the standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) and the sheet steel cage, is decisive for actual operation. In demanding thermal conditions, users should carefully select a lubricant suited to this application.
No, the bearing is not angle-adjustable. The contact surfaces on the shaft and housing must be perpendicular to the shaft axis, as any misalignment can lead to uneven stresses. To compensate for misalignment, variants with a spherical housing washer and a matching shim would be required instead; however, these are not included in this scope of supply.
The sheet steel cage maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements and prevents the balls from coming into direct contact with one another. The way the balls are guided reduces internal friction and heat build-up during operation. The sheet steel cage is characterised by high dimensional stability combined with low weight.
P0 is the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings according to international standards and corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. It specifies the permissible dimensional, geometric and running deviations for standard industrial requirements. This level of accuracy is sufficient for most mechanical engineering sectors where no special high-precision bearings are required.
