The SKF 52202 double-acting axial deep groove ball bearing supports shafts with a 15 mm bore under alternating axial forces.
The 52202 axial deep groove ball bearing is a compact rolling bearing unit designed for purely axial loads. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6), this design supports shafts axially in both directions. With key dimensions of a 15 mm bore, 32 mm outer diameter and 12 mm overall width, the component complies with standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1. SKF equips this model with a guided sheet steel cage.
This rolling bearing is suitable for designs in which axial forces act alternately on the shaft from two directions. As axial deep-groove ball bearings must not bear radial forces, designers always combine this component with suitable radial bearings within the system. Typical applications are found in mechanical engineering bearing arrangements that require axial shaft guidance on both sides at operating temperatures between –30 and +150 degrees.
The 52202 design is not angularly adjustable and is sensitive to misalignment. The contact surfaces on the shaft and housing must be machined exactly at right angles to the axis of rotation to prevent the bearing from running on its edges. The scope of supply comprises the axial bearing only, without additional shims. When designing the assembly, ensure that the housing shims are fitted with sufficient clearance to prevent the build-up of disruptive constraint forces.
With a bore diameter of 15 mm, an outside diameter of 32 mm and a total width of 12 mm, the bearing has standardised dimensions. These allow for precise integration into housing bores and onto corresponding shaft seats.
As a double-acting axial bearing, this design absorbs axial forces from both directions. It therefore guides the shaft on both sides within the housing. Due to its design, this product is not suitable for withstanding radial loads.
No, this version is not angle-adjustable. It requires precise alignment of the shaft with the housing, as misalignment leads to uneven load distribution across the rolling elements and contributes to premature wear of the raceways.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The dimensional stability of the components made from 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage is maintained within this temperature range.
A sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly into the raceways. This design keeps the component weight low and enables it to be used within the specified temperature range up to +150 degrees Celsius.
No, the scope of supply comprises only the double-row axial deep-groove ball bearing without washers. If a spherical base is required to compensate for misalignments, this must be selected separately to suit the overall system.
