The FAG 51230 -MP axial deep-groove ball bearing accommodates single-direction axial loads with a bore diameter of 150 mm and an outer diameter of 215 mm.
The 51230 -MP axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed as a single-direction rolling bearing. It guides shafts in an axial direction and absorbs the axial forces acting there. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), the bearing offers dimensional stability. The design complies with standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1. Thanks to its solid brass cage, this design is suitable for demanding thermal conditions in the range from -30 to +150 degrees.
This axial bearing is designed to accommodate purely longitudinal forces where no radial loads act on the rolling elements. For combined loads, a separate radial bearing arrangement must be provided. As the design is not angle-adjustable and is supplied without a shim, the bearing mounting position requires careful alignment. The contact surfaces on the shaft and housing must be machined at right angles to the axis of rotation to prevent uneven force transmission to the balls.
The designation -MP refers to a guided solid brass cage. Compared with sheet steel cages, brass is characterised by its run-on properties and mechanical strength. This reduces wear during rapid changes in speed or under continuous operating conditions. During assembly, the shaft disc fits tightly onto the 150 mm shaft, whilst the housing disc is fitted with some play into the 215 mm bore.
This bearing absorbs only axial forces from a single direction. Due to its design, this type of bearing cannot accommodate radial loads. For combined loads, an additional radial bearing on the same shaft is therefore required.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 150 mm at the shaft flange, an external diameter of 215 mm at the housing flange and a height of 50 mm. The components are precisely matched to one another.
The suffix -MP indicates a solid brass cage. Compared with pressed sheet metal cages, this type of cage offers increased mechanical strength and can withstand severe vibrations and demanding lubrication conditions.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +150 degrees. The bearing washers and the brass cage remain dimensionally stable within this range. The lubricant used must also be approved for the relevant operating temperature.
No, this model does not have adjustable angles. The bearing washers have flat contact surfaces and will not tolerate any misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing. Connecting parts must be machined with the requisite precision and at right angles.
The scope of supply includes the single-acting axial deep-groove ball bearing, comprising a shaft washer, a housing washer and a ball-cage assembly. Washers for compensating for angular misalignment are not included in this version.
