The FAG 54209 axial deep-groove ball bearing accommodates high axial forces in both directions and has a bore diameter of 35 mm, an outside diameter of 73 mm and a width of 39.6 mm.
The FAG 54209 axial deep groove ball bearing is designed as a double-acting axial bearing that accommodates axial forces in both directions and provides axial guidance for the shaft. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) with a sheet steel cage, this design is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. The design is not intended to accommodate radial loads; it is therefore specifically intended for axial guidance applications.
This double-acting axial bearing guides shafts in both axial directions, particularly in designs subject to alternating thrust forces. As axial deep groove ball bearings are only permitted to transmit longitudinal forces, in practice this component is combined with separate radial bearings on the same shaft. With its dimensions of 35 mm internal diameter and 73 mm external diameter, the bearing provides a robust foundation for machine components designed to accommodate axial loads from both directions.
The 54209 model is designed to be angularly adjustable, provided it is used in combination with suitable washers. The scope of delivery for this item comprises only the axial deep-groove ball bearing without washers. If misalignment or shaft deflection occurs during operation, a domed housing washer in combination with a spherical washer compensates for static angular misalignment. In the case of rigid mounting surfaces without misalignment, the component is mounted directly onto flat contact surfaces, whereby the contact surfaces must be perpendicular to the shaft axis.
Double-acting axial deep-groove ball bearings absorb axial forces from both directions and guide the shaft in both directions. Unlike single-direction types, this type has two rows of balls and a shared shaft ring in the centre. Due to its design, this construction cannot accommodate radial forces.
This version has a bore of 35 mm, an external diameter of 73 mm and a total width of 39.6 mm. Thanks to these specified dimensions, the roller bearing can be fitted precisely into housing assemblies. When installing, ensure that the contact surfaces are flat to prevent uneven load distribution.
The roller bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The bearing shells, rolling elements made of bearing steel (100Cr6) and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this range. The thermal load capacity of the lubricant used must also be taken into account for operation.
This item comprises only the axial deep-groove ball bearing, without washers. Angular adjustability to compensate for misalignment requires spherical washers, which must be supplied separately if required. For flat mounting surfaces without misalignment, it is sufficient to mount the housing washers directly onto the housing stop.
This classification denotes the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings. It provides a balanced level of dimensional and running accuracy for common industrial applications in mechanical engineering. Shaft and housing seats should be manufactured in accordance with these specifications to ensure that the bearing fulfils its axial guidance function correctly.
The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements, which are lightweight, along the raceway and maintains a constant distance between the balls. The material withstands mechanical stresses and operates within the entire temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees using standard lubricants.
