The SKF 52312 double-acting axial deep-groove ball bearing supports shafts with a 50 mm bore, an 110 mm outer diameter and a width of 64 mm in both axial directions.
The 52312 axial deep groove ball bearing is a rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6), specifically designed for pure axial loads. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), it meets the permissible dimensional and running tolerances required for general mechanical engineering. Fitted with a sheet steel cage, the bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. The use of this open bearing is recommended where the shaft is axially fixed at both ends without radial support.
This thrust bearing accommodates alternating or bidirectional axial loads and is used for fixed axial positioning. Typical applications include bearing arrangements in which axial compressive forces act on the shaft from both ends. As axial deep groove ball bearings, by their very design, must not absorb any radial forces, the assembly is always combined with suitable radial bearings. This ensures that the axial and radial load components are clearly separated from one another in the design.
As a double-acting variant, the bearing has two ball races and a central shaft ring between two housing plates. This design is not angle-adjustable. The mounting surfaces in the housing and on the shaft must be machined at right angles to the axis of rotation, as misalignment leads to uneven loading. The scope of supply comprises the axial bearing only, without shims. The lubricant must be selected to suit the operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
The bearing has an internal diameter (bore) of 50 mm, an external diameter of 110 mm and a total width of 64 mm. These standardised dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into housing bores and onto corresponding shaft shoulders.
A double-acting axial bearing can accommodate axial forces from both directions. It guides the shaft axially to the left and right, thereby eliminating the need for separate thrust bearings for the opposite direction. However, this design cannot transmit radial forces.
No, this model is not angle-adjustable. As it is designed without spherical washers, it is sensitive to misalignment. The mounting shoulders on the shaft and housing must be machined at right angles to the bearing axis to prevent unacceptable edge loading.
The permissible temperature range for the component is from -30 to +150 degrees. The integrated sheet steel cage and the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel remain dimensionally stable within this range. In actual operation, the actual temperature limit is determined primarily by the chosen grease or oil.
The P0 or PN classification denotes standard tolerances in accordance with ISO/DIN, comparable to the US ABEC 1 classification. It defines permissible deviations in terms of dimensional and running accuracy and forms the standard for general mechanical engineering.
A sheet steel cage is used in this bearing. It guides the rolling elements of both rows at a uniform distance, offers dimensional stability whilst being lightweight, and is suitable for the entire temperature range up to +150 degrees.
