The FAG 53203 axial deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 17 × 35 × 13.2 mm, accommodates axial forces in one direction.
The 53203 axial deep groove ball bearing is a single-direction rolling bearing from FAG designed to accommodate purely axial forces. With an internal diameter of 17 mm, an external diameter of 35 mm and a height of 13.2 mm, the component guides shafts in the axial direction. It is made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and features a sheet steel cage. Manufactured to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), it ensures smooth running characteristics for industrial applications and general mechanical engineering.
This rolling bearing is designed to accommodate axial loads in a defined direction, whilst radial forces must be absorbed by separate radial bearings. Typical applications include industrial bearing arrangements in general mechanical engineering where loads are directed in one direction only. The modular design of the components facilitates assembly work. The standardised design also enables predictable procurement and direct replacement during operation.
The 532 series features a spherical housing washer to compensate for static misalignment. In the event of misalignment between the shaft and the housing bore, the 53203 axial deep-groove ball bearing can be combined with a suitable spherical washer. This washer must be selected separately, as it is not included with this individual bearing. The permissible temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees must also be observed during operation.
This roller bearing absorbs axial forces acting in one direction along the shaft axis. By design, this type of bearing cannot support radial loads, which is why it must be used in combination with radial bearings. The shaft disc is fixed to the shaft, whilst the housing disc transfers the axial force into the surrounding machine housing.
With a bore of 17 mm, an external diameter of 35 mm and a height of 13.2 mm, the component is suitable for standardised mounting spaces. These dimensions correspond to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. During repairs or design work, the dimensions can be directly compared with the drawing data to ensure a precise fit.
Thanks to the spherical design of the housing washer, the mounting surface inside the housing adapts as soon as you fit a suitable washer. This effectively compensates for installation inaccuracies or manufacturing-related misalignments between the housing and the shaft. The scope of supply includes the single bearing without a washer, so that this can be selected separately if required.
The component is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel used, as well as the sheet steel cage, retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. It is crucial for operation that the grease or lubricating oil used is also approved for the respective operating temperatures encountered.
The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along their path and prevents the balls from coming into direct contact with one another. This ensures even load distribution, reduces friction and keeps the bearing temperature low. Furthermore, when the individual discs are fitted separately, the set of balls remains neatly aligned.
The designation P0, often referred to as ABEC 1 in international usage, defines the standard tolerance for dimensional and running accuracy. It specifies the permissible deviations for bore diameter, outer diameter and axial run-out. For most industrial applications in general mechanical engineering, this tolerance class offers a good balance between technical precision and cost-effective procurement.
