The FAG 52309 double-acting axial deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 35x85x52 mm, supports axial forces acting from both directions in industrial machinery.
The FAG 52309 axial deep-groove ball bearing is an open rolling bearing designed for applications subject to purely axial loads from two directions. With key dimensions of a 35 mm bore diameter, an 85 mm outer diameter and a 52 mm height, the component supports rotating shafts axially in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel 100Cr6, the component retains its dimensional stability at operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceways.
This rolling bearing absorbs axial forces from alternating directions and provides axial support for machine components. As axial deep-groove ball bearings cannot absorb radial forces, designers always combine this bearing type with separate radial bearings to accommodate radial loads. Typical applications include industrial shaft mountings where axial thrust forces act alternately in both directions on the bearing assembly.
As this design is not angularly adjustable, the component requires flat and precisely perpendicular contact surfaces on the housing and shaft. Even slight misalignments generate edge stresses, which place uneven loads on the raceways and increase wear. This bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and is fitted without shims. Clean contact surfaces and lubrication appropriate to the application contribute to low-friction operation.
As a double-acting bearing, this design accommodates only axial forces from two directions. This type of bearing is not suitable for radial loads. The design must therefore include an additional radial bearing to absorb all forces acting transversely to the shaft.
With a bore of 35 mm, an external diameter of 85 mm and a height of 52 mm, the bearing complies with standardised dimensions. These dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into prepared housing bores and onto corresponding shaft seats in general mechanical engineering.
No, this version is not angle-adjustable and is supplied without spherical washers. The bearing is sensitive to misalignment between the shaft and the housing. All mating surfaces must therefore be flat and perpendicular to the shaft axis to prevent localised overloads on the raceways.
The main components of the bearing are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage is used to guide the balls. This combination of materials is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
Manufacturing is carried out to standard tolerances in accordance with tolerance classes P0 and PN, as well as ABEC 1. This tolerance grade meets the standard requirements of mechanical engineering for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy at standard speeds and for axial guidance applications.
The scope of supply comprises solely the double-acting axial deep-groove ball bearing with its associated washers and the sheet steel cage. Additional spherical washers are not included with this item. The bearing is fitted directly against flat-machined housing and shaft shoulders.
