The SKF 51114 axial deep-groove ball bearing accommodates unilateral axial forces for shaft diameters of 70 mm in mechanical and plant engineering.
The 51114 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed as a separable rolling bearing for the specific purpose of accommodating purely axial forces. With key dimensions of a 70 mm bore, 95 mm outside diameter and 18 mm height, this design supports shafts on one side. SKF manufactures the components from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel to the standard tolerance P0 or PN. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along their raceways.
The 51114 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed to transmit considerable axial forces acting parallel to the axis of rotation. In technical bearing arrangements, the single-acting design supports defined longitudinal forces in one direction. As this component accommodates only single-sided axial loads, no radial loads whatsoever must act on the bearing discs. Any radial forces must be absorbed by separate radial bearings on the same shaft to prevent impermissible stress on the raceways. The fact that the shaft and housing rings can be separated facilitates the separate installation of both bearing rings.
During assembly, care must be taken to ensure that the connecting parts are precisely perpendicular to the shaft axis, as this design is not angle-adjustable. Planar, parallel contact surfaces prevent localised edge stresses on the raceways of the rings. The scope of supply includes the axial deep-groove ball bearing without separate shims. Together with the sheet steel cage and the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, the bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The component is designed as a single-direction bearing intended solely for axial forces acting on the shaft from one direction. The bearing must not be subjected to radial loads. In practice, it is therefore usually combined with separate radial bearings, which absorb transverse loads and provide radial guidance for the shaft.
The bearing has a 70 mm bore for the shaft seat, an outer diameter of 95 mm and a total height of 18 mm. These dimensions allow for a precise fit when installed in assemblies with corresponding mounting dimensions.
No, this version is not angle-adjustable. The bearing washers have flat contact surfaces and are sensitive to misalignment or deflection of the shaft. To ensure smooth running, the housing and shaft shoulders must be machined at right angles to the axis of rotation.
The bearing is suitable for use in a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. This resistance is achieved through the properties of the standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6 and the sheet steel cage. When designing the bearing, the lubricant used must be selected to suit the chosen temperature range.
The roller bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0, which corresponds to the PN or ABEC 1 classification. This accuracy class defines the specifications in mechanical engineering regarding the dimensional, geometric and running accuracy of the bearing rings.
The scope of supply includes the axial deep-groove ball bearing without shims. The unit comprises the shaft washer, the housing washer and the ball-guided sheet steel cage. Additional shims for compensating for misalignment are not included in the scope of supply.
