The 52215 double-acting axial deep groove ball bearing from SKF, measuring 60x110x47 mm, accommodates axial forces in both directions.
The 52215 axial deep groove ball bearing is designed for industrial applications. This bearing from SKF Wälzlager provides axial support for shafts in both directions and guides them precisely in their axial position. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), the bearing offers high dimensional stability under load. A guided sheet steel cage maintains the rolling elements at a uniform distance. The design is engineered to accommodate pure axial forces on both sides.
This double-acting axial bearing accommodates axial forces in both directions. The design is not intended for radial loads; therefore, a separate radial bearing arrangement must be provided in relevant designs. Typical applications include shaft guides and bearing arrangements with alternating axial load directions. As this bearing is not angularly adjustable, the mounting surfaces on the housing and shaft must be machined exactly at right angles to the axis of rotation to avoid edge pressures.
Unlike single-acting axial bearings, the 52215 design features a central shaft disc and two housing discs, each containing a cage with balls. The product scope includes the axial deep-groove ball bearing without shims. With tolerance class P0 (normal tolerance), the bearing is suitable for standardised fits in industrial applications. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +150 degrees, tailored to the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet metal cage.
The bearing has a bore of 60 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a total width of 47 mm. These dimensions enable it to accommodate axial forces in both directions whilst maintaining a compact design.
The bearing accommodates pure axial loads from both directions and secures the shaft at both ends. This axial bearing cannot transmit radial forces. An additional radial bearing on the shaft is required to accommodate radial loads.
The sheet steel cage separates the balls in both ball rings and maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements. It combines a low weight with sufficient rigidity for applications within the specified temperature range.
No, this model is not angle-adjustable and is sensitive to misalignment between the shaft and the housing. The contact surfaces must be aligned exactly perpendicular to the shaft axis in order to avoid uneven edge loads.
The components made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the sheet steel cage are designed for operating temperatures between -30 and +150 degrees. When designing the system, the temperature suitability of the lubricant used must also be taken into account.
The scope of supply comprises only the axial deep-groove ball bearing, excluding washers. If suitable shims or spherical housing washers are required, these components must be specified separately.
