The SKF 52217 double-acting axial deep groove ball bearing supports axial forces in both directions and has dimensions of 70x125x55 mm.
The SKF 52217 axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates purely axial forces in both directions and guides shafts in the axial direction. With a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 125 mm and a width of 55 mm, this design is suitable for industrial applications. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6), the bearing operates within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The guided sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the rolling elements.
This roller bearing supports assemblies subject to alternating or bidirectional axial loads. Purely axial bearings in this series do not absorb any significant radial forces, which is why radial loads should always be supported by separate radial bearings. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in bearing arrangements with alternating axial thrust directions. As this model is not angle-adjustable, the design requires precisely aligned shafts and flat contact surfaces.
The double-sided design provides dimensionally stable support for shafts in both thrust directions. The component comprises a central shaft disc, two housing discs and two sets of ball rings guided by sheet steel cages. SKF manufactures this product to the standard tolerance class P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1), meaning it meets common industrial requirements for dimensional and radial runout accuracy. The design is intended for installation without separate shims.
The dimensions are 70 mm internal diameter (bore), 125 mm external diameter and 55 mm overall width. With these defined dimensions, the roller bearing can be fitted precisely into housing bores. Both housing discs and the central shaft disc are precisely matched to this installation width.
As a double-acting axial bearing, this model accommodates axial loads from both directions. It is designed exclusively to accommodate axial forces and must not be subjected to radial loads. If additional transverse forces occur during operation, these must be supported by separate radial bearings on the shaft.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The dimensional stability of the components made from roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and the sheet steel cage is maintained within this range. When operating at the temperature limits, you should ensure that the lubricants used are approved for this temperature range.
This model is not angle-adjustable. It is sensitive to misalignment between the shaft and the housing. Uneven edge loading leads to increased wear on the balls and raceways. The contact surfaces in the machine housing and on the shaft must therefore be machined so that they are exactly at right angles to the axis of rotation.
Inside, a sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements of both rows of balls. The sheet steel material withstands loads within the specified temperature range of up to +150 degrees. It mechanically separates the balls from one another, prevents them from rubbing against each other and ensures an even load distribution across the raceways.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN, which is also known internationally as ABEC 1. This class represents the standard level of accuracy for industrial applications in terms of dimensional, form and running tolerances. It is suitable for conventional mechanical engineering bearings without any special requirements for extreme concentricity.
