The FAG 7320 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing, with a 100 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, accommodates high unilateral axial loads as well as radial forces.
The FAG 7320 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with dimensions of 100 × 215 × 47 mm. Thanks to the 40-degree contact angle, this design can simultaneously accommodate radial loads and significant axial forces in one direction. The open bearing is suitable for locally lubricated shaft mountings in mechanical and plant engineering.
This single-row angular contact ball bearing is suitable for bearing arrangements where, in addition to radial forces, high unilateral axial forces are also present. As the axial forces are, by design, only accommodated in one direction, the bearing is often fitted in pairs with a second rolling bearing mounted in the opposite direction.
Thanks to its open design, the bearing can be integrated directly into existing oil or grease circulation systems. The tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) meets the standardised requirements for industrial manufacture and maintenance.
The solid brass cage (-MP) guides the balls with dimensional stability and low noise, even under vibration. At the same time, the 40-degree contact angle allows for high axial load capacity. For operating conditions involving thermal stress in the range from –20 to +150 degrees, brass offers high strength.
The open bearing has no integrated sealing washers. An external housing seal and a controlled lubricant supply are required to protect the standard radial bearing clearance and the raceways from contamination.
The angular contact ball bearing has a bore of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 215 mm and a width of 47 mm. These standardised key dimensions facilitate precise fitting onto shaft seats and housing bores without flanges or grooves during design and maintenance.
The contact angle of 40 degrees describes the inclination of the line of action between the points of contact of the balls and the raceways relative to the radial plane. A contact angle of 40 degrees increases the axial load capacity of the angular contact ball bearing in one direction compared with bearings having smaller angles.
The brass cage, identified by the suffix ‘MP’, is characterised by high strength, low wear and resistance to lubricants. It guides the rolling elements stably within the raceways, even under vibration and at operating temperatures between –20 and +150 degrees.
As the bearing is manufactured without sealing washers, the lubricant reaches the raceways and the brass cage unhindered. The bearing housing is fitted with external seals around the surrounding casing to prevent the lubricant from leaking out and dirt particles from entering.
Tolerance class P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1 or PN) defines the standard dimensional and running accuracy for rolling bearings in accordance with applicable standards. Bearings in this class meet the usual industrial requirements in general mechanical engineering and contribute to a precise fit in standard fits.
Due to its design, a single single-row angular contact ball bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. If axial loads need to be supported in both directions, designers arrange two bearings opposite each other, for example in an O or X configuration.
