The SKF 7301 BEP single-row angular contact ball bearing, measuring 12x37x12 mm, accommodates combined radial loads and unilateral axial loads.
The SKF 7301 BEP angular contact ball bearing is an open rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6). Its design transmits forces at a contact angle of 40 degrees, obliquely to the radial plane. Installation is recommended when, in addition to radial forces, axial loads in one direction are acting on the shaft simultaneously. With a bore of 12 mm, an outside diameter of 37 mm and a width of 12 mm, the unit offers compact mounting dimensions for industrial bearing arrangements.
This single-row bearing is suitable for shaft mountings that carry radial forces together with axial forces acting in one direction. Relevant fields of application include systems with defined axial preload. As single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, designs usually incorporate a second bearing as a counter-bearing. The lightweight polyamide cage guides the rolling elements precisely and ensures smooth operation within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
The contact angle of 40 degrees determines the force transmission between the inner and outer rings. Compared with bearings with a smaller angle, this geometry supports higher axial loads whilst minimising axial deformation. When installing the bearing, please note that the open bearing has no integrated seals. External sealing and lubrication with oil or grease are required. The tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and the standard radial bearing clearance ensure a precise fit for standard fits.
The suffix ‘BEP’ indicates an optimised internal design with a pressure angle of 40 degrees and a polyamide cage. This combination offers increased axial load-bearing capacity in one direction. The polyamide material reduces the moment of inertia of the rotating components and promotes quiet operation.
With an internal diameter of 12 mm, an external diameter of 37 mm and a width of 12 mm, this bearing is one of the compact single-row angular contact ball bearings. The outer ring has neither a flange nor a groove, which allows for a cylindrical mounting in the bearing housing.
The permissible operating range is from -20 to +120 degrees. These temperature limits are determined by the thermal resistance of the polyamide cage and the 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel. For applications above 120 degrees, variants with metal cages should be selected.
Due to their design, the asymmetrical shoulders on the bearing rings can only absorb axial forces in one direction. If fitted in the wrong direction, the balls will come into contact with the lower shoulder, leading to increased wear. Markings on the rings make it easier to fit the bearings correctly.
As an open roller bearing without factory-fitted sealing washers, this version is not pre-lubricated by the manufacturer. The type and viscosity of the lubricant are selected to suit the operating conditions, such as speed and ambient temperature. Both greases and lubricating oils can be used.
The roller bearing is manufactured in accordance with the standard tolerances of class P0 or normal tolerance (PN), which corresponds to the ABEC 1 rating. This precision class meets common requirements in mechanical and plant engineering for standard fits.
