The SKF 7230 BCBM angular contact ball bearing, with a 150 mm bore and an outer diameter of 270 mm, accommodates combined radial and single-direction axial loads.
The SKF 7230 BCBM angular contact ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With an integrated contact angle of 40 degrees, the design supports radial forces as well as unidirectional axial forces. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel and featuring standard radial clearance, this open bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +200 degrees. The open design allows for flexible lubrication with oil or grease to suit your operating conditions.
The 7230 BCBM angular contact ball bearing is primarily used where combined loads with a significant axial force component acting in one direction are present. Such requirements arise in shaft mountings with axial thrusts acting in one direction. As single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, this component is usually paired with a second bearing. When mounted in pairs in an O or X configuration, the bearing set has minimal axial play.
The integrated brass cage guides the rolling elements precisely between the solid bearing rings. Brass is characterised by high strength and resistance to lubricants and thermal influences. This makes the BCBM version suitable for demanding environmental conditions up to +200 degrees. As the open bearing has no integrated seals, an external housing seal protects the raceways from contamination and retains the selected lubricant within the bearing area.
This bearing has a bore of 150 mm, an outer diameter of 270 mm and a width of 45 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a groove nor a flange. With a tolerance class of P0 or ABEC 1, the component complies with the standard tolerances commonly used in industrial applications.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line connecting the points of contact between the rolling elements and the raceways relative to the radial plane. A contact angle of 40 degrees gives the angular contact ball bearing a high load-carrying capacity for axial forces in one direction. At the same time, the bearing can accommodate considerable radial loads.
This is an open roller bearing without integrated cover plates or sealing discs. You select the lubricant (grease or oil) to suit the speed and temperature of the application. Protection against dirt and moisture is provided by the surrounding housing structure and suitable shaft seals.
When two bearings are arranged in pairs in an O or X configuration, a small amount of axial clearance is created. This arrangement supports axial forces in both directions and increases the stiffness of the entire shaft bearing assembly. Alignment is carried out during installation by means of axial adjustment.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 to +200 degrees. The standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel used, as well as the solid brass cage, retain their dimensional stability across this range. For the upper temperature range, a lubricant suitable for high temperatures is required in the unit.
The component is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard clearance design is suitable for standard fits and normal operating conditions without extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. In the case of angular contact ball bearings, the actual operating and axial clearance are only established when the bearing is pressed against a mating bearing.
