The SKF 7215 BECBP single-row angular contact ball bearing accommodates high radial and unilateral axial loads whilst maintaining compact dimensions of 75 × 130 × 25 mm.
The 7215 BECBP angular contact ball bearing is used wherever combined loads act on rotating shafts. As a single-row bearing, this design transmits axial forces in one direction due to its construction. SKF manufactures the component from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) in the Explorer design. With an inside diameter of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm, this open bearing is suitable for applications that use external lubrication.
Typical applications for this angular contact ball bearing include shaft mountings operating at high speeds and subjected to combined radial and axial loads. As single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, designers often fit this bearing in pairs. When arranged in pairs in an O or X configuration, the bearing set has minimal axial clearance. As a result, the bearing arrangement supports shafts against alternating axial thrust forces and guides components precisely within the housing.
The nominal contact angle of 40 degrees provides a high axial load capacity whilst ensuring stable radial guidance. The rows of balls are guided by a polyamide cage, which promotes quiet operation. This design offers dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P6 and running accuracy to P5. The bearing operates within the specified range at operating temperatures from –20 to +120 degrees. As the bearing housing is open, users must provide a suitable seal.
The bore is 75 mm, the outer diameter is 130 mm and the width is 25 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when mounted on suitable shafts and in cylindrical housing bores without a flange or groove on the outer ring.
The contact angle describes the line of action along which the contact forces between the ball and the raceway act. A nominal contact angle of 40 degrees gives the angular contact ball bearing a pronounced ability to accommodate axial forces in one direction, combined with stable radial guidance.
Open roller bearings do not come with integrated sealing washers fitted by the manufacturer. This design allows for flexible lubrication via the surrounding machinery system, for example through oil or grease circulation lubrication. An external seal on the housing is required to protect against the ingress of dirt and the loss of lubricant.
The polyamide cage evenly spaces the rolling elements and guides them securely along the raceway. Polyamide is characterised by low friction and good emergency running properties. Furthermore, the material dampens vibrations, which contributes to the quiet operation of the rolling bearing.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 to +120 degrees. This range is largely determined by the standard roller bearing steel and the polyamide cage used, making the component suitable for numerous standard industrial applications.
This classification indicates tighter manufacturing tolerances than the standard. The 7215 BECBP angular contact ball bearing has dimensional accuracy in accordance with Class P6 and even finer running accuracy in accordance with Class P5. This measurably reduces radial runout during operation.
