The SKF 7208 BECBP angular contact ball bearing, with a 40 mm bore and an 80 mm outer diameter, offers high load-carrying capacity for combined loads.
This single-row angular contact ball bearing 7208 BECBP accommodates radial forces as well as single-direction axial forces. Thanks to the Explorer design from SKF Rolling Bearings, the component meets the increased demands of continuous industrial operation. The open bearing, made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), is externally lubricated and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees. A low-friction polyamide cage guides the rolling elements precisely at normal radial clearance.
Design engineers prefer to use this rolling bearing in bearing locations that, in addition to radial forces, are subjected to significant one-sided axial loads. Applications include shaft mountings with combined loads and axial guiding forces. As single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, they are often fitted in a face-to-face arrangement with a second bearing. The design without a flange or groove on the outer ring facilitates direct fitting into cylindrical housing bores.
The 40-degree contact angle gives this bearing a high axial load-carrying capacity in the direction of action. When mounted in pairs in an O or X arrangement, the bearing set has a defined, low axial clearance set by the manufacturer, which simplifies adjustment within the housing. In terms of manufacturing quality, this model combines dimensional accuracy P6 with enhanced running accuracy to tolerance class P5, which minimises vibrations in concentricity.
This component is characterised by a single-row design with a contact angle of 40 degrees. The raceways of the inner and outer rings are offset from one another in the axial direction. As a result, the rolling bearing transmits simultaneously acting radial and axial forces. The open design, without integrated seals, allows lubrication via the operational oil or grease circuit.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a total width of 18 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct fitting onto suitable shafts and into boreholes without a flange on the outer ring.
The polyamide cage guides the balls with low internal friction and is characterised by its elastic damping properties. It contributes to smooth rolling element guidance. The specified operating temperature range for this material is from -20 to +120 degrees.
This classification specifies tighter manufacturing tolerances than the standard tolerance. The P6 dimensional accuracy ensures dimensionally stable fits between the shaft and the housing. The higher P5 running accuracy reduces runout error during operation, which helps the shaft to run smoothly at higher speeds.
The bearing is designed for installation in pairs. When two bearings are arranged opposite each other in an O or X configuration, a small amount of axial clearance is created as a result of the system’s design. This facilitates the axial fixation of the shaft and absorbs guiding forces acting in both directions.
The permissible operating range is from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the polyamide cage are designed for this range. When in use, the selected external lubricant must also cover this temperature range.
