The FAG 3316 double-row angular contact ball bearing, with dimensions of 80 × 170 × 68.3 mm, accommodates high radial loads as well as axial loads on both sides in industrial applications.
The FAG 3316 angular contact ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to the arrangement of the two rows of balls, this component transmits radial forces and axial forces acting on both sides to the shaft. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), the design is characterised by high dimensional stability. Maintenance engineers and designers will find this roller bearing to be a suitable component for new designs or repairs in mechanical engineering.
The 3316 double-row angular contact ball bearing accommodates combined loads consisting of radial forces and axial forces acting in both directions. Functionally, it replaces two single-row bearings arranged opposite each other and therefore requires less axial installation space. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with combined loads where rigid shaft guidance is required in confined spaces. Even with varying axial loads, the design ensures smooth guidance of the shaft assembly.
As an open bearing, the 3316 angular contact ball bearing has no integrated seals. The installation location therefore requires an external housing seal to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture. You can tailor the lubrication individually using oil or grease to suit the respective operating temperature between –20 and +150 degrees. The built-in sheet steel cage ensures smooth running of the rolling elements. Thanks to the standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), this model is suitable for standard fits in industrial assemblies.
With a bore of 80 mm, an outer diameter of 170 mm and a width of 68.3 mm, the bearing has standard dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical, with no groove or flange, which ensures a secure fit in the housing.
Double-row angular contact ball bearings function in the same way as two single-row bearings arranged opposite each other, but require less axial space on the shaft. They accommodate radial forces as well as axial forces from both directions equally. This facilitates the design of rigid bearing arrangements in compact installation spaces.
As the angular contact ball bearing has an open design, apply the lubricant separately during assembly. Depending on the application, use either grease or lubricating oil. An external housing seal protects the lubricant from contamination and premature leakage during operation.
The term ‘standard radial bearing clearance’ refers to the internal clearance between the balls and the raceways prior to installation. This design is suitable for standard fits on shafts and housings, as well as for standard operating conditions where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
Within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees, the standard version made of roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a sheet steel cage can be used. The choice of a suitable lubricant, designed for the thermal conditions at the bearing location, is crucial for operation.
With its low weight, the sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely within the raceways. It is resistant to common mineral and synthetic lubricants and is designed for an operating temperature range up to +150 degrees. This ensures that the rolling elements remain stably guided even under dynamic loads.
