The 7222 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing, measuring 110 × 200 × 38 mm, reliably accommodates radial forces as well as high unilateral axial forces via its brass cage.
The 7222 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is designed as a single-row radial ball bearing for the combined support of radial and axial loads. Thanks to its contact angle of 40 degrees, the bearing effectively dissipates unidirectional axial forces. The brass cage guides the rolling elements stably within the raceway, even under demanding operating conditions. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6, this open design covers a temperature range from –20 to +150 degrees.
This rolling bearing is particularly suitable for mounting positions where high radial forces are combined with strong unilateral axial forces. The single-row design is often paired with a second bearing to provide reciprocal axial guidance. Typical applications are found in industrial bearing arrangements with combined load profiles. The integrated brass cage provides additional stability under vibration-intensive or thermally demanding operating conditions.
The suffix ‘MP’ denotes a version with a brass cage, which is more resistant to mechanical vibrations and shock loads than simple sheet steel cages. Furthermore, the brass cage performs reliably across a wide temperature range from –20 to +150 degrees. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, you should select the lubricant to suit the specific operating environment. During assembly, ensure that the defined line of action for the 40-degree contact angle is observed.
The 7222 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing has a bore of 110 mm, an outside diameter of 200 mm and a width of 38 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has no flange or additional grooves. The bearing seats are manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line connecting the points of contact between the balls and the raceways relative to the radial plane. At an angle of 40 degrees, the component can withstand particularly high axial forces in one direction. To support forces acting in the opposite direction, users usually combine this single-row bearing with a mating bearing mounted in the opposite direction.
The abbreviation MP indicates a brass cage. This cage material is characterised by high resistance to vibrations and thermal stresses. It guides the rolling elements stably within the raceway and broadens the range of possible applications in industrial settings subject to higher mechanical stresses compared with standard sheet metal cages.
The bearing, made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees. Within this temperature range, the dimensional stability of both the steel and the brass cage is maintained. When commissioning the bearing, ensure that the selected lubricant is also suitable for the intended temperature range.
As this bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers, the lubricant reaches the raceways and balls directly. Depending on the system design, you can lubricate the bearing via an external oil lubrication system or by applying grease to specific areas. At the same time, the surrounding housing design must prevent the ingress of dirt and the loss of lubricant.
This product has the standard radial bearing clearance. However, in the case of single-row angular contact ball bearings, the actual operating clearance is only established during installation by means of precise alignment against a second bearing. The fits on the shaft and housing, as well as thermal expansion, have a significant influence on the remaining clearance during operation.
