The SKF 7310-bep angular contact ball bearing is designed to withstand combined loads and has an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width of 27 mm.
The single-row angular contact ball bearing 7310-bep from SKF Rolling Bearings accommodates radial forces as well as axial forces in one direction. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel, this design is characterised by dimensionally stable rings and guided rolling elements. With an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width of 27 mm, this open bearing is suitable for designs that utilise a continuous lubricant supply throughout the entire system. Thanks to the standard radial clearance, the bearing maintains its intended guidance accuracy under normal operating conditions.
This single-row bearing is suitable for shaft mountings where, in addition to radial forces, unidirectional axial loads are also present. Often, two single-row angular contact ball bearings are mounted in pairs facing each other to accommodate axial forces in both directions. As this is an open rolling bearing without integrated sealing rings, operation requires a clean installation environment and an external lubricant supply, for example via an oil bath or grease lubrication system.
The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low internal friction and promotes smooth running of the unit. A temperature range of –20 to +120 °C is specified for the complete system, which is defined by the cage material and the rolling bearing steel. When designing the system, engineers and maintenance personnel should check whether the lubricant used is compatible with the cage material. Furthermore, the standard radial bearing clearance determines the operating clearance when the unit is installed; therefore, thermal expansion should be taken into account when selecting the fit.
This component is designed with an external diameter of 110 mm and a width of 27 mm. Before installation, designers and maintenance engineers should carefully check that the available installation space within the housing matches the component’s external dimensions.
As a single-row angular contact ball bearing, this design accommodates combined loads consisting of radial forces and axial forces in one direction. Due to the design contact angle, the forces are transmitted obliquely. For axial guidance on both sides, angular contact ball bearings are usually arranged in pairs in a mirror-image configuration and set at an angle to one another.
The open design, which does not feature integrated sealing washers, allows unimpeded access of lubricant during operation, for example in oil-bath lubrication or centralised lubrication systems. Open bearings do not cause friction due to sealing lips coming into contact. To prevent contamination and lubricant loss, the bearing seat in the surrounding housing must be protected by external sealing elements such as shaft seals.
The bearing is specified for an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 °C. This limit is primarily due to the thermal properties of the polyamide cage and the dimensional stability of the steel rings. Within this range, the plastic retains its mechanical strength, provided that the lubricant used is suitable for the respective operating temperature.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the factory-set radial clearance as supplied, without any increase or reduction in the bearing clearance class. It is designed for standard operating conditions at moderate speeds and typical temperature gradients between the inner and outer rings. During installation, this clearance is reduced slightly as the bearing is fitted onto the shaft and into the bearing housing.
The polyamide cage keeps the balls at a defined distance apart and prevents them from coming into contact with one another whilst in motion. The elastic material absorbs shocks and reduces noise emissions. As a result, the plastic cage ensures low-vibration operation within the specified temperature range of -20 to +120 °C.
