The SKF 7320 BECBP angular contact ball bearing, with a 100 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, accommodates high unilateral axial loads as well as radial forces.
The single-row angular contact ball bearing 7320 BECBP is designed for combined loads. Thanks to the angular arrangement of the raceways relative to one another, this rolling bearing specifically dissipates axial forces in one direction. SKF manufactures this version from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel in the Explorer performance class. With an outer diameter of 215 mm and a width of 47 mm, this open bearing is suitable for designs where an external lubrication supply is provided.
This bearing is primarily used in bearing arrangements where, in addition to radial forces, significant unilateral axial forces act on the shaft. As a single angular contact ball bearing can only accommodate axial loads in one direction, it is often fitted in pairs with a second bearing. The design is such that a pair of bearings, when mounted in an O or X arrangement, has a defined, low axial clearance. The polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration.
The nominal contact angle of 40 degrees determines the force transmission and gives the bearing a considerable axial load-carrying capacity. The specification combines dimensional accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P6 with higher running accuracy in accordance with P5, which promotes smooth concentricity. The component has standard radial clearance and operates within a temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius. As the bearing is of an open design, the bearing housing requires effective sealing to prevent the ingress of contaminants.
This roller bearing has an inner diameter of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 215 mm and a total width of 47 mm. It is a single-row bearing without a flange or groove on the outer ring, manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel.
The contact angle describes the line along which the contact forces between the ball and the raceway are transmitted. An angle of 40 degrees ensures that axial forces are effectively supported in one direction; however, during operation, this always requires a corresponding counter-guide or pairing.
This product is designed for installation in sets. When fitted as a pair of bearings in an O or X configuration, the manufacturer ensures that a small amount of axial clearance is provided. This simplifies the precise adjustment of the bearing assembly and prevents an impermissibly high amount of play on the shaft.
The polyamide cage guides the balls quietly within the bearing and is characterised by its low weight. The material properties of the cage are compatible with the bearing’s permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius under normal lubrication conditions.
This classification indicates tighter manufacturing tolerances than those for standard bearings: dimensional accuracy complies with Class P6, whilst concentricity is manufactured to Class P5. This reduces concentricity errors and ensures smooth running in demanding shaft-bearing arrangements.
The open design, which does not feature integrated cover plates or sealing discs, allows for flexible lubrication via the housing system, for example with oil or grease. At the same time, it enables the unimpeded flow of the lubricant, but requires an external housing seal to protect against contamination.
