The FAG 3314-C3 double-row angular contact ball bearing, measuring 70 x 150 x 63.5 mm, provides precise guidance for high combined loads at elevated operating temperatures.
The FAG 3314-C3 angular contact ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to its internal design, this bearing reliably accommodates radial forces as well as axial forces on both sides. The open design allows for direct lubrication via the housing system, whilst the sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements spaced apart. With a tolerance class of P0 or ABEC 1, this design is suitable for standard fits in mechanical and plant engineering.
The 3314-C3 angular contact ball bearing is primarily used where high combined loads from two directions act on a bearing mounting. Typical applications include heavy-duty shaft mountings in general mechanical and plant engineering, where a compact width and high rigidity are required.
Double-row angular contact ball bearings offer a functional alternative to paired single bearings and save axial installation space. As this model is designed as an open bearing, it can be specifically integrated into existing oil circulation or grease lubrication systems. The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional operating clearance serves to compensate for thermal expansion of the shaft and housing at higher operating temperatures. In addition, the increased bearing clearance accommodates slight deflections or fit oversizes without causing stress in the rolling element contact.
When installing, please note that open roller bearings require an external housing seal to protect against dirt and moisture. For aligned installation, the key dimensions are a 70 mm bore, a 150 mm outer diameter and a width of 63.5 mm.
The double-row bearing has an inside diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width across flats of 63.5 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical, without a groove or flange. Thanks to these key dimensions, the roller bearing fits into standardised housing seats in accordance with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This design is recommended where temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, or where tight fits reduce the radial clearance. The additional clearance prevents the rolling elements from seizing and ensures smooth running under thermal loads.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. The combination of standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) and a robust sheet steel cage retains its dimensional stability within this temperature range. A lubricant must be selected for operation whose specification covers this temperature range.
As the bearing is manufactured without integrated seals, protection against contamination and moisture is provided by the surrounding housing structure. Lubrication is carried out as required using grease or lubricating oil, selected to suit the system’s operating temperatures and speeds.
A double-row angular contact ball bearing accommodates radial forces as well as axial forces in both directions. The rows of balls are arranged at an angle, which gives the bearing assembly a high degree of rigidity. This makes this type of bearing suitable for shafts that require precise axial guidance under varying loads.
In this design, a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the balls in both rows. Sheet steel cages are characterised by their low weight and good resistance to lubricants and operating temperatures of up to +150 degrees. They are suitable for standard industrial applications with a continuous supply of lubricant.
