The FAG 33020 tapered roller bearing (100x150x39 mm) can withstand high combined radial and axial loads and features a sheet steel cage.
The 33020 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from FAG that combines high radial forces with axial forces acting in one direction. The truncated conical rollers between the inner and outer rings create a line contact, enabling rigid and high-load-capacity bearing arrangements. With a bore of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 39 mm, this design is suitable for demanding shaft mountings in mechanical engineering. You will receive a complete tapered roller bearing with standard tolerances for industrial use.
The 33020 tapered roller bearing is used in bearing locations where high radial loads occur simultaneously with axial forces. Typical applications include gearbox shafts and heavy-duty drive trains in general mechanical engineering. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, designers usually fit the component in pairs, with one bearing running in the opposite direction to the other. This arrangement in an O or X configuration ensures a play-free or specifically preloaded guidance of the shaft.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers and withstands vibrations during day-to-day operation. With a permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees, the component covers typical operating conditions in industrial gearboxes. The tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) allows for easy replacement in standard applications. An advantage during assembly is that the inner ring with roller set and the flangeless outer ring can be fitted separately, which simplifies press-fitting and the adjustment of axial play.
With an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 150 mm and a total width of 39 mm, the 33020 tapered roller bearing has standardised key dimensions. These values determine the required installation space in the bearing housing and on the shaft. Design engineers and maintenance personnel can use these specifications to check whether the bearing will fit dimensionally within the assembly.
Tapered roller bearings can accommodate both high radial loads and single-sided axial forces simultaneously. The extended raceways and roller axes intersect at the bearing axis, ensuring that the rollers bear the load evenly and preventing forced slip. For alternating or axial forces acting from both sides, a second tapered roller bearing, mounted in a mirror-image configuration, must be fitted on the same shaft.
Due to the non-self-retaining design, the inner ring, together with the roller cage, can be fitted separately from the outer ring. This structural separability considerably facilitates mechanical installation in housings and on shafts, as well as subsequent maintenance work in industrial plants.
The permissible operating temperature range for this roller bearing is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, the components and the integrated sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. When specifying the lubrication, users should ensure that the lubricant is approved for the temperatures actually encountered during operation.
The designation P0 (also referred to as PN) corresponds to the ABEC-1 classification and describes the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings. It specifies permissible dimensional and running tolerances that meet the requirements of typical industrial applications. The bearing is therefore suitable for standard drives and machine mountings without any increased requirements for high precision.
The sheet steel cage keeps the tapered rollers at a uniform distance apart and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. The material is characterised by its mechanical strength and resistance to common lubricants, and is suitable for standard operating conditions up to 120 degrees Celsius.
